O2 scam attempt on call to my mobile

Just be aware these are doing the rounds. An abrupt Indian tried to convince he was with O2 sales (he knows I'm O2 of course due to my number ) and was happy to be offering me 40pc discount on my remaining monthly contract. I thought that was weird so let him go on a bit through his whole script and he finally said , Please can I just confirm you want to go ahead with the 40pc discount and I said , err No thanks.  Much hilarity on my side,as I knew he was thrown and didn't have much in the script to pick up on this left turn. Then after nearly accepting defeat he asked Can I have the reason you decline this great offer please.  I just said,  er no , it's secret to me only.  Have a nice day. Thanks.  At least I wasted 5 mins of his efforts but We didn't get near the point of him 'appearing' to send me a code  which he would have accessed my online account and done some naughties.   Don't give your one time security codes to anyone. If you do get them they are for you only .

Truss vetoes basic information

A suggestion that people might be told ways in which they could usefully reduce their energy consumption has been vetoed by the idiot Truss as it's 'Nanny State.' Nobody suggested that people be told what to do, only offered advice should they need it. Could she be any more stupid?

Parklets - what a joke

So the idea is to remove short term parking for shoppers and replace them with either frivolous plantings, or commercial capacity for adjoining restaurants and cafes.Firstly, so chiswick needs less parking to allow people to support local businesses?Secondly, who wants to sit on an exposed wooden structure right next to a road, presumably enjoying pollution and the prospect of a car running into your 'parklet' [you know its going to happen then watch the backlash] Thirdly, who is supporting these monstrosities?  I dont know but why do i think its likely to be a specific adjoining commercial beneficiary or the anti car lobby?  The council would have problems just closing off parking as covid isnt what it was, heres the next attempt.Fourthly, the council says they have to be maintained - yes looking forward to seeing this happening.

Upcoming roadworks on South Parade

In the article on the homepage today about the upcoming roadworks on South Parade, there is this info:There will be ongoing work adjusting kerbs, channels, gullies, and some footway areas on South Parade. Footway widening is taking place near the junction with Rusthall Avenue to address narrow footway by a mature tree.Do you think this means they will chop down the tree?!?!

Repair Cafes

I see that Hammersmith & Fulham now have a regular one in the building where IKEA now is.The Ealing ones (mostly clothing mending still I think) continue. Grove Park Surgery

went there for my flu jab, with the very precise time of 10.07 for the injection. Imagine my surprise to find a queue of elderly folk (like myself) right the way back to the Coop, itself closed 'due to lack of staff'. I eventually got jabbed around 1037, after more queuing and a bit of bureaucracy. Obviously pleased to be jabbed, and the people were very nice but what is the point of having appointments timed to the minute if it's actually more of Great British Queuing Situation?

Lost gold ring strand on the green

Walking dog between fountain and post office alley in strand on the green.  Had taken my ring off and put it in my pocket  as was doing a pottery class earlier . Totally forgot and put poo bags in same pocket and must’ve pulled ring out with bags when on my walk so lost my beautiful ring !  It was a 50th present .  Gold band with unusual large curly design .  Be delighted to be reunited with it sad 😔
