The Killer is dead!
Sad news in that one of the original 1950s rock'n'roll stars Jerry Lee Lewis has died (October 28 at 88 years of age). Many who knew the wild lifestyle he lived would probably be amazed he lasted so long and has outlived most of his other contemporaries!Across his long career from rock'n'roll (Great Balls of Fire, Whole Lotta Shakin'' going on, Breathless and High School Confidential all hits on the Sun label in the 50s); his career ruining marriage when it was revealed that his bride was his 13 years old cousin; and later resurrection by moving into country music with many hits (he cut the original of "Green Green Grass of Home" which Tom Jones had the global hit with) but always keeping his original rock'n'roll roots evident across the years.I was lucky enough to see him live at the old Finsbury Park Astoria (Rainbow Theatre) In the late 70s and that voice and piano playing were still magic!Definitely for me one of a kind unique rocker we are unlikely to see again.
