Litter bug shaming - Audi TT on Linden Gardens

It’s just unbelievable how dumb/selfish/lazy some folk are… big guy in black Audi TT… reg ending in UTS… probably had too many McDonalds and too little eduction… nonchalantly drops his fast food napkins and paper out of the car window… would love police to fine this sort of anti social behaviour… just sets a terrible tone and poor example to youngsters… muppets…

Today (Saturday 13 August) could be interesting in Chiswick

In addition to the A4 lane closures there are strikes on London Overground and engineering work on South Western trains which serve Chiswick and Kew Bridge stations.Brentford are at home to Manchester Utd with the kick off at 5.30pm and the Gunnersbury Live event is taking place at Gunnersbury Park this afternoon and evening with thousands expect to attend.The heat may discourage people from going out but if you need to I would be heading out in the morning rather than waiting until later.Whatever happens today will be a pallid reflection of what is in store during the tube and bus strikes next week.

Demise of TimeOut Magazine - Suggestions for alternative?

Hi,I was disappointed that TimeOut recently stopped printing the magazine.  However, I assumed they were simply moving the magazine content online.  I even assumed that perhaps there would be an app to make it easy to read the weekly magazine.  I was wrong.There is no app but even the content on their website is nothing like the old magazine.  It doesn’t seem to have topical features like new restaurant reviews, exhibitions, festivals etc... that happen over time in London.It’s a lot of recycled content like “10 things in London to do today” - Visit a museum!Does anyone know of any print magazines that feature what’s happening in London?  Alternatively, are there any suggestions about the best online source?  I’ve yet to find a good one.Thanks,JoePS  The Chiswick Calendar is decent for local stuff.

Questors Theatre Fund Raiser for New Roof

Hi ThereI'm not sure if this is allowed, but I do know that a lot of Chiswick fools use The Questors Theatre for events and a lot of Chiswick kids have performed there over the years. So I wondered if any of the good people of Chiswick would consider donating to our new roof, which is desperately needed. We were on our way to affording to have it replaced until the pandemic struck and wiped out our savings for it. East of A316 residents

The recent letter from LBH caused a number of queries to be raised on continued access to Staveley Rd.Traffic supplied the following,Residents who live on the East of the A316, who are already on the exemption list for Staveley Road, will be treated in the same way as residents in the 5 CPZs. And as such will continue to haveaccess to the Staveley Road restrictions. Accordingly, they will also have access to the Hartington Road restrictions when the two exemption schemes are amalgamated.

Thermal Blinds

Considering thermal blinds to reduce the cold penetrating my side return extention glass roof (added bonus of reducing the heat in summer too).  Does anyone know how effective they are against the cold? Will need a company that also measures and fits them.  I see that "Hillary's" does offer that but have no experience of the company.  Any recommendations or companies to avoid?

Train Drivers' strike - 13 August

Does anyone have any information of how much services will be disrupted by the train drivers' strike next Saturday? It is only affecting ASLEF members on London Overground and Great Western Railway but, as luck would have it, those are two services I may need to use that day. Is it too much to ask that drivers from other unions will be rostered that day and services will run as normal?

meteor shower from tomorrow

Now while looking up at the sky in the last half hour,nice lying down on the rattan sofa with a little breeze apart from seing some sats pass over and the Britten-Norman Islander circling high above now retired to bed i did see some shooting stars. About one every 10 mins and not bad either so i just had a look online and given the forecast we may be in for a treat.  Its the Perseid meteor shower which we have not been able to see for some years due to the cloud cover. Here is what it says for uk. "The Perseid meteor shower is one of the most well-known astronomical events and the best time to see it will be between Thursday, August 11, and Saturday, August 13""It will be most active between midnight and 5.30am and according to the Met Office, visibility is set to be very good with little cloud coverage forecast"

Why is Hounslow so rubbish at rubbish collection?

I was talking to a friend from Hammersmith.In Hammersmith and Fulham both regular waste and recycling is collected twice a week.It is also twice a week in Kensington and Chelsea.In Richmond and Brent both waste and recycling are once a week.Yet here in Hounslow we get our general waste collected once a fortnight - that is 25% of the rate in Hammersmith and 50% in Richmond - our neighbours. However Ealing appears to be worse than us - I am told. Or the same. If you live on the border - for example near Bath Road/Larden Road - the disparity is extraordinary.Why is our "Council of the Year" so rubbish at rubbish collection? The impact in winter is more rats and foxes, and in hot summer heatwaves - smell and infestation and well as just unsightly mess.And we no longer have a nearby recycling centre like Bollo Lane. I have a friend who runs a small shop in Chiswick and of course he pays high business rates.  He doesn't even get ANY collections - he has to pay for it all privately - not even a recycling collection.Yet for some reason, this hardly seems to feature as an issue - it is time it did!  When Hammersmith tried to cut down waste collection to once a week, there was uproar - and a quick climbdown.

The election was some months ago - just wondering when the 9 Chiswick Councillors will resurrect the Chiswick Area Forum. I note there was a meeting between the Gunnersbury Councillors, the Police and 'some' local residents upstairs at George IV - was this advertised anywhere?

Long shot in the sky

Anyone in NATS or air traffic control looking in A turboprop plane has been circling over west london a good 20-25 000 ft up for the last 4-5 years. That is a long time and it does not show up on radar. Just on the off chance someone might know what its doing. 4-5 years is a long time. Airport taxi company recommendations

Need to order a people carrier for 5 adults and 5 suitcases from Acton Central to Gatwick. Unfortunately 2 are elderly pensioners with mobility issues otherwise public transport would have been considered.
