Burst main at Bedford Corner

There appears to be a lot of water at Bedford Corner just opposite St Michael and All Angels Church which I would guess comes from a burst water main. If they need to dig up the road to fix it things could get interesting if Acton Lane is still closed.

Nope,its rain water that has no drainage due to the camber of that stretch. Its been like that for many many years even when they replaced part of the pavement and curbing they left the camber the same. It will eventually dry up

When they altered to west pavement and put in a useless gulley that needs sucking out at frequent intervals and rarely done, they also did not deal with the road gulley which is always blocked.The added problem is that the church falls within Hounslow as does Turnham Green Terrace and the park side comes into Ealing.  The responsibility for the  pavements are also part of the problem.  Add to the mix whoever is responsible for highway maintenance and the result is lots of finger pointing and nothing gets done.  It has been like this for many years.

I believe the footbridge from Acton Green to the back of Sainsburys was always a bone of contention,  regarding responsibility. Is it really possible that there’s no  paperwork somewhere? Or is it beyond the wit of these Councils to either allocate responsibility, or agree to split costs. Apparently it is. If there was revenue to be had they soon find the appropriate records that’s for sure

Are you sure it is just the blocked gully? I walked past this morning and there was still a large amount of water. Wouldn't this have evaporated by now? I walk past the spot regularly and, although there is clearly a problem with drainage, I have seen this much water there so long after heavy rainfall.

Got to the bottom of the Acton Green footbridge question earlier this year during an attempt to improve lighting on the approach to the bridge on the Hounslow side. It wasn't the potential of revenue that led to the answer but the potential liability for costs that made it so frustrating getting there. Living on boundaries with other boroughs is often problematic. Elsewhere in Chiswick Gunnersbury ward, Hounslow residents on Gunnersbury Lane and Popes Lane leave their front gardens and step onto Ealing pavement, walk past Ealing's bins and park in Ealing's parking spaces. Responsibilities have been allocated but silo working and inefficient corporate memory systems mean that eg the waste collection team in the collecting council knows, and the parking revenue collection team receiving income from fines knows, and a few longstanding residents/shop owners know (but no-one knows they know what others don't know - apologies for being a bit Rumsfeldian) but decision makers don't. Information isn't passed on and myths build up.

It's not a rain water, I walked over this place few times last weekend and water is clearly seeping from one of the drains on the pavement (labelled with 'Thames Water', methinks)....wasn't there a major repair on this very roundabout, only just recently (few weeks back), that was undertaken by Thames Water actually?

Well done. I went on the Thames Water site to report this earlier but saw that someone had already done so.There will be works starting soon on South Parade being undertaken by Virgin according to the roadworks update. They run from 1-3 September.Is Acton Lane still closed northbound? The traffic didn't seem quite so bad today.

Acton Lane was open in both directions when I drove there on Sun - so I guess (and sincerely hope) it's a done deal now...
