Does anyone have one of these that I could have/borrow/buy?I need to charge one to retrieve some old text messages.Its the slightly bigger pin version 3-4mm rather than the very thin oneThanks

Builder recommendations?

Hi all Would love to hear if anyone has any good builder recommendations. We're looking to have some jobs done around our house such as knocking a wall out, or taking out inbuilt units and making good the walls behind. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Found cat in Hammersmith

Traffic in Chiswick

We all know it's intolerable at the moment for several well documented reasons but the latest funnelling of traffic on the A4 into one lane has made it so much worse. If the work is so necessary where are the people fixing the road? I haven't seen one person. And hoy of joys, it's going o  till December.. It's really going to help the impassable high road. I always wanted to live in a car park

W4 Private message

As it has come up a few times recently over "Did not get your PM" or "Ive sent you a PM" You once could tell if it worked by clicking on your own name and sending yourself a PM but that no longer works because the PM service does not work whatsoever on here and has not worked for ages. So dont think it could be in your spam folder or no text was put in subject line,it just does no longer work so dont expect to recieve one or send one and hope it gets delivered

Marriage

I was so looking forward to this programme - good writer, brilliant actors, what's not to like? But, Oh dear! dreary and too many silences will not be bothering to watch the rest. Yet the same writer wrote the excellent 'Mum' - after wasting so much time with the awful 'Chloe' (by a different writer) a few months ago and trying to work out what the hell was going on, I do wonder what some of these writers are on.

Finally, Elizabeth Line is joined up

Very excited about this and I think it will make an appreciable difference in Chiswick although we don't have a station. It's easy to the Ealing Broadway station by tube and I've been experimenting with cycle routes to Acton Mainline which is very easy to get to from North Chiswick - the route has been improved by the widened path at the top of Southfield Park. Perhaps best to do this with a bike with gears as getting there is pretty much uphill all the way. I'd hope to do door-to-door to Canary Wharf in under 50 minutes.

Fights Breaking out on Chiswick High Road

It's all getting a bit unpleasant on Chiswick High Road this afternoon. In the space of about a minute while walking up near the junction with Duke Road I've witness two physical confrontations. The problem appears to be that cars trying to get out of Duke Road are not being let out by drivers stuck in long queues going each way. This means they are blocking the Cycleway and there is a queue down Duke Road. Drivers behind them are getting angry, cyclists are fuming because their way is blocked and the stuck drivers are shouting abuse at the drivers not letting them in. This seems to be the main flash point but there was the angry blaring of horns all the way up and down the High Road and very slow movement in both directions. Up until now the eastbound flow of traffic had generally been okay but the Acton Lane closure has led to there being problems in both directions.

Bank Holiday bus strikes

I've had an email today from TfL saying that some buses will be on strike again this coming Sunday and Monday. I was invited to click through to see which routes were affected, which got me precisely nowhere!Am I right in thinking that the E3 won't be running again?

Google Maps and Fischers Lane

Hi,I use Google Maps regularly for driving because of the good real time traffic function. However, it still doesn’t seem to know Fishers Lane is closed so wants to direct me under the bridge there. Does anyone else out there have the same problem and if so have a fix for this?Joe

cyclists: must pay road tax, insirance etc...

Cyclists now need to start paying road tax, insurance, and a safety MOT type certificate for their two wheeled vehicle. The amount of road space now being used at tax payers' expense  to accommodate cyclists & certainly in Chiswick. Cyclists are now in more danger because of the crossing of junctions where vehicles are turning into and the lack of warning lights or road marks to alert cyclists that they are about to cross a junction and they're not the only or main road users.

Chiswick School / Arts Ed

I'm looking for up to date experience of the above schools, years 9 and 10 (Chiswick)I'd really like state (Chiswick school) to work out for several reasons, but we've been living abroad and as my children are new to London, I'm wondering if my children are 'streetwise' enough to go for state, I'm particularly worried about bullying as that school has a sketchy past on that level. Further wondering if they'll get the creativity that they have strong leanings for. Thus considering Arts Ed for my year 9'er (they don't do entry at year 10).Anyone with direct experience? Thanks!

Earwax & NHS (or not)

I thought I ask here: you guys have always great advice.My ear is blocked, tried the ear drops for weeks and it doesn't help.So I called Chiswick Health Centre to book appointment.They basically said, I would have to help myself OR book an appointment with a private (!) GP to do Ear Syringing.Any advice?
