Thames road post office

Having heard that most post offices are deluged with people- I have a small package to send and wondered if this post office is open - I have just tried to phone but no answer... I would be so grateful to know . Thankyou.

Closed Cycle Lanes CHR

Noticing the zero amount of work going on in the now closed cycle lanes on the Chiswick High Rd, is this going to be the new “status quo” from now on? Permanently closed full sized car/van/bus lanes, causing untold traffic delays, pollution, poor public transport services; etc... Does anyone have a clue with anything with these now abandoned cycle lanes?

Car break-in at BP South Parade

Car break-in at BP South Parade. My car passenger window was smashed at BP South Parade at 6:30 yesterday evening by someone on a motorbike. Nothing of value was stolen, only a large, black, faux Longchamp bag containing two black files of nutritional therapy notes, a lunchbox and an umbrella.I assume the files will be dumped. If you see them please let me know as they are essential to my studies!

School Hours Restrictions Staveley Rd

Have the restrictions been held back or something? I was at the bus stop at 1330 today and the signs were covered up. I thought they were to be applicable from today.I did notice that the signs facing towards the A316 were almost at the school gates, so a driver would be well into the road before seeing them.

British Gas refund problem.

I’ve been trying for over 2 months to get some money refunded. Many many phone calls and promises but getting nowhere. Is there a CEO or anyone in authority I could contact. I’m at my wits end. Thanks

Strand on the Green PO

FYI - my mother will be opening the post office full-time and working usual hours from Weds 2nd Dec until Xmas eve. I usually take time off work every year to help out but will be taking more time off this year - we think that's the only way for her to work full-time to meet the huge demand during the Xmas rush whilst also keeping safe given the R rate.To confirm, the usual hours are:Monday - 9am to 5.30pm (closed 1pm to 2pm)Tuesday - 9am to 5.30pm (closed 1pm to 2pm)Wednesday - 9am to 1pmThursday - 9am to 5.30pm (closed 1pm to 2pm)Friday - 9am to 5.30pm (closed 1pm to 2pm)Saturday - 9am to 1pmPlease see the list of Xmas last posting dates - https://www.postoffice.co.uk/last-posting-dates

Safe? at last

Here's a new one.Visited a pub for lunch today (a substantial meal was on offer as was a pint of my favourite).Hounslow Council have invested in new transport (new vans painted with the wording ENFORCEMENT) for their Enforcement Officers to visit pubs, check and take take photographs.

As the new traffic schemes were scrutinised Monday night, Cllr Richard Eason called for the resignation of Cllrs Hanif Khan and Katherine Dunne, two of the most powerful and active members running the Borough.Having criticised the schemes, Cllr Eason (Labour, Isleworth) told the Council's Overview and Scrutiny Committee: "Two of the lead members involved should have known better than this. They have lost the confidence of members and residents and they should resign. Their positions are untenable. CHR Cycle Lane

Ok so we've got a new cycle lane, and I may even use it one day. But oddly, it's coned off, so cyclists have to go in the main roadway. Worst of both worlds?

Boycott Hermes

Hermes reputaion is in tatters after workers were  seen to electroshock crocodiles then attempt to kill them by cutting into their necks and ramming metal rods down their spines. The animals shake vigorously as this happens. One crocodile's leg can be seen raising up after he was cut open.If you're not OK  with this then do please take action and sign the petition. https://secure.peta.org.uk/page/17623/action/1

Cell Block Grove Park - starts 7/12/2020

As of the 7th December:You cannot drive in via Hartington Road, (unless you are part of the 2 tiny CPZ nearby, and have a permit).You cannot drive into Thames Road and leave at either Kew or Grove Park Terrace exits. (Unless the journey time exceeds a set but unknown duration).You cannot use parts of Staveley Road in set school hours.You cannot use parts of Grove Park Terrace in set school hours.You cannot exit via Harvard Hill.Any contravention is a minimum £65 PCN, £130 if not paid in 14 days. Please be aware of all these new rules, and make sure that all trades, delivery, taxi, and takeaway companies that you use are fully aware too, so that they do not incur fines and try to pass them on to you.

Bourne Place - new sign aaaaaggghhh

If anyone turns into Bourne Place from Dukes Avenue and needs to turn right into Duke Road - you can't ! And there's no prior warnings about Road changes on Dukes Avenue or at the beginning of Bourne Place !A new sign has popped up since yesterday saying left hand turn only from Bourne Place, therefore to get to the the middle and end of Duke Road, I guess the route will now be Dukes Avenue to A4, up to the roundabout then left and Fraser Street etc.Which total plonkers decided this ? It's making access to the Glebe Estate almost impossible, not to mention increasing pollution - sheer stupidity and madness

Chiswick Flower Show. Let's Go Shopping. Vaccine!!!!

I'm not trying to be a total Scrooge. But as memory serves me whether I believe in it or not, are we not supposed to be in a pandemic. A pandemic which according to the government infection rates are super high and thousands sadly are dying in huge numbers. I am also under the belief that mysterious quickly rushed vaccines are available as of next Tuesday. To which I am guessing will be forced on all whether we like it or not. And also much of the year has been spent in lock down, wearing masks, not seeing friends and family, buisness being ruined, people losing there jobs etc.But yet since Saturday we are expected to all rush out in the absolute millions to go and shop, rubbing shoulders with strangers in massive crowds. But then if I want to go to the pub I have to order a substantial meal for some reason. What exactly is going on as this makes zero logical sense?I have my own idea, but what do others think?

Another triumph for LBH

Just seen a report on the BBC's South-East News about Hounslow's decision to paint some council houses a sickly shade of yellow, without consulting and against the wishes of the residents. One homeowner who started to re-paint their house grey was promptly stopped by LBH officials, leaving them with a half-grey, half-sick-coloured house. Our very own Vanessa played a starring role standing up for the residents. The most notable fact was Hounslow's cowardly refusal to take part in the report, not even deigning to give the customary 'statement'. Aren't we lucky to be run by such a sympathetic and caring collection of, er, councillors?
