Safe? at last

Here's a new one.Visited a pub for lunch today (a substantial meal was on offer as was a pint of my favourite).Hounslow Council have invested in new transport (new vans painted with the wording ENFORCEMENT) for their Enforcement Officers to visit pubs, check and take take photographs.

Is Chiswick becoming a nouveau Stalinast Russia but without Glasnost ?

I have to ask, is it disingenuous to ask?Hounslow Council have invested tens of thousands in installing traffic measures (albeit funded by central government). Should these measures prove to be unwanted, who will pay for their removal? Also costs for provision of enforcement personnel and transport for a problem which by its nature will be temporary (I speak about the Enforcement Officers checking pubs). Is this justifiable given the current establishment of street trader schemes which result in large gatherings and increased risks of virus infections?

I would add they had hi-viz jackets with ENFORCEMENT in large letters written on the back!

They were out yesterday as well spying on people.

Are these ENFORCERS working throughout the entire Hounslow Borough and in just the same density?  That must involve hundreds of employees and uniforms - blimey who is paying for that lot?  WE ARE!  Seriously, does anyone know how many are employed elsewhere in LBH?  Hope they ALL TRAVELLED BY BIKE and not in motorised vans/cars.    Who in W4 of musical ability is writing the comic opera and of course the libretto?

If they find you eating a Scotch egg, be sure to say this is your starter: Cornish pasty with chips coming up.

They wouldn't have taken the 237 back to Hounslow as their shifts would have ended before they arrived! Be interesting to know if they ventured to Hounslow and Feltham Town Centres over the weekend too.

I haven't personally seen them yet, but the image of vans and people wearing hi-viz jackets emblazoned with the word ENFORCEMENT is positively Orwellian. Have Curran and his clique in far-away Hounslow no sense of proportion?

Talking enforcement I see 1 of two girls getting a fix penalty notice for dropping her cigarette butt on the floor at the bus stop on CHR. Now while one should not be dropping anything on the floor and I have an issue with people dropping litter I kind of felt sorry for her. For one it was just a little butt, two its kind of difficult times and it is coming up to Christmas. But lastly, I don't even think she was old enough to smoke so I am not sure she can afford £80 but passed onto the parents. Now maybe I'm being a little bit too generous in my thoughts but I guess it was her age and the type of littering that I kind of in a small way felt sorry for her. Saying that I doubt she will be doing it again anytime soon after the parents pick up the FPN
