Hounslow leisure centres

As no doubt you have heard gyms and swimming pools can reopen soon.Well don't get too excited if you use the ones Hounslow are responsible for.Below is an extract from  Lambert's Brentford weekly update."Wednesday morning my monthly catch up with the chair of Lampton. Main topic is the leisure centres which Lampton have now taken over. Each has two boilers so there is always one operational (in theory) but in practice only one of the six leisure centres currently has any working boilers, a bit of an issue when there’s swimming pools and showers needing hot water. Oh, and a bit of heating wouldn’t go amiss in December"Simply disgraceful.Yes, I know that the management has changed but that is no excuse. Children, adults, the fit and disabled need these facilities for both physical and mental well being.I bet my shirt that if Hounslow House's boiler broke down it would be fixed overnight.When are these people going to get a grip or more to the point, are they even capable of  getting one?

Mobile CCTV Serco van - Fishers Lane (Hounslow side)

This afternoon there was a mobile CCTV Serco van parked on Fishers Lane, just south of the junction with Chiswick Back Common Road/Belmont Terrace.  This is about third or fourth time I've seen it there and, as the camera is pointing north towards the bridge, I'm assuming it's enforcing the No Entry on the Hounslow side?

Old laptop tucked away nyone?

A friend doesn't own a computer but has Braodband for her phone. Does anyone have a laptop that they no longrr use? Doesn't have to be great condition as long as it works. She does a lot of work for charity so I'd love to help her. Thanks. Julie 07368 374527

Bubbles.....

....not the "I'm forever blowing kind"! But the Tier Two kind. Who registers and checks that someone is in your Bubble? I ask, because I want to meet a friend for (a substantial) lunch in a pub in Sloane Square tomorrow accompanied by a substantial amount of alcohol, namely white wine! Now, if we were to be stopped by the COVID Police and asked if we were in each other's Bubble, couldn't we just say "yes"? And if, say, I was to meet another friend the next day (which I'm not) couldn't we just say the same? Basically, I mean who monitors who is in one's Bubble and who is not? Am I being obtuse? In a nutshell, am I allowed by the "Powers That Be", to meet her inside the pub for a meal?Confused-of-Chiswick

Special Southfield Ward Forum about Fishers Lane

A reminder that the three Liberal Democrat councillors are inviting Southfield ward residents to attend a special ward forum to discuss the access restrictions on Fisher’s Lane.The meeting will take place on Monday 7 December between 6:30 to 7:30 pm.The councillors say they will listen to residents’ feedback on the recent survey and analysis of the contentious traffic scheme and discuss if there are acceptable alternatives to propose to Ealing Council at an upcoming Cabinet meeting in January.A recent survey by the ward councillors on the restrictions showed 75% opposition among ward residents.After local Councillor Andrew Steed made a request of Ealing Council's Leader, the Fishers Lane traffic restrictions will be reviewed at the Cabinet meeting in January. The meeting could lead to Ealing’s Labour party either retaining or amending the current restrictions.Lib Dems want to make sure that the Council understands the negative impact the scheme has inflicted on the Southfield community including disabled residents.Any resident who wishes to take part should email southfield@ealinglibdems.org.uk to receive details of how to access the virtual meeting.Gary M

Another Moped Mugging in Chiswick

I want to put this out there for you to share with local friends and family as it appears that the moped muggings are increasing again.  My son was mugged and threatened by the rider and he took his iphone.  The police were notified, but any additional help would be appreciated.  The moped registration was LN14 7MZ.  If you know or see this moped anywhere then please let me know where via this forum.  Thanks.

Scrutiny Committee - a damning indictment of the traffic schemes

“ They found that the report had not had adequate consultation prior to the decision. The Committee considered that ward councillors had not been consulted properly nor had stakeholders, people who are digitally excluded and people with protected characteristics. ·         They found that there was inadequate evidence on which to base the decision. The Committee believed modelling should have been done prior to the decision. ·         They found that the action was not proportionate to the desired outcome. Based on the evidence, the Committee found that in the design of phase 3, local need and impact should have been considered.  ·         They found a potential equalities or human rights challenge. Navigating Chiswick

Oh my goodness this is really becoming extremely difficult.   I understand Hartington Road is the next casualty in this amazing system, Ordnance Survey must be really busy in trying to keep up with all the changes.Again like many I am extremely confused - to get from Sutton Court Road to the Chertsey Road, I cannot use Hartington but will have to continue past the station turn right by the road that goes up to the traffic lights next to Chiswick School - is that correct?   Thank you

Chiswick markets

if we are trying to keep infection rates down, why oh why have Hounslow approved an Antiques Market and continuing a Flower Market in Chiswick. They encourage large crowds and there is no social distancing, Hounslow, what are you doing to Chiswick!
