Kind regards Hounslow and Ealing borough teamNW London Integrated Care System and NW London Clinical Commissioning Group www.nwlondonccg.nhs.uk www.nwlondonics.nhs.uk NHS NW London public key messages – 4 January 2022 Covid-19 in NW London Overview of current position • Cases have risen significantly, specifically in the over 60s.• Testing in the population has also increased.• Care homes and other setting with vulnerable people are being closely monitored for out breaks, outbreaks already being reported.• Challenge in January is managing increased hospitalisations.The risk of Omicron While we await further information from scientists, what we do know is that Covid in all its variants has the potential to cause significant harm, especially with the very high rates of community transmission we are seeing.It is therefore important that everyone eligible for the vaccine comes forward, including for second and booster doses, protecting themselves and loved ones.Updated national guidance England has moved to plan B in response to the risks of the omicron variant. · Get vaccinated and get your booster dose· Wear a face covering in indoor places and on public transport.· Work from home if you can.· Meeting outdoors is safer, let fresh air in if you are meeting indoors. Secondary school pupils to wear face coverings in class rooms as a temporary measure. If you’ve tested positive or have symptoms you can stop self-isolating after 7 days instead of 10 days if you get 2 negative lateral flow tests on day 6 and 7. Hospital visiting in NW London From Friday 31 December, we have introduced new visiting restrictions in our hospitals due to the high number of Covid-19 infections in the community. To keep everyone safe, we can only permit visitors in exceptional circumstances, including: · Visiting a child· Visiting a patient at the end of their life· As a birth partner· As a carer Read more https://www.nwlondonccg.nhs.uk/news-publications-events/news/new-visitor-guidance-hospitals-nw-london Vaccination in NW London Hospitals, GPs and pharmacies in North West London continue to respond to the urgent need to offer protection to all adults, through the vaccination programme following the emergence of the Omicron variant of Covid-19. Adults and children over 12 are eligible for vaccination. Venues and opening times for this week are available here www.nwlondonccg.nhs.uk/coronavirus/vaccine-centres Overseas vaccination The Overseas Vaccination Validation Service is now up and running nationwide. People who received one or more COVID vaccinations overseas need to make a face-to-face appointment at a centre, where they can present evidence of their vaccination and, if verified, have this added to their medical record (and therefore their COVID Passport). At present there is only one centre in London where people can make an appointment: at our vaccination centre at Bidborough House. All appointments are booked out until the end of January. We are expecting another London centre to open shortly.This procedure for getting medical records updated should not, however, stand in the way of any individual getting their booster. This individual should be advised that, if they turn up at any of our walk-in sites, with all of the information relating to their first two jabs, then they should be able to get vaccinated. The Green Book has clear procedures outlining what vaccine is to be administered, according to what vaccines have already been received overseas.
