The Great NHS Service Theft
All,Just so you know what is happening. I recognise that the NHS is under pressure but I have a horrible feeling that some parts of the NHS service that we have become accustomed to will go the way of free eye tests and a host of other things.I lost hearing in one ear. After eventually negotiating a telephone appointment (!) with her GP, I was told that they could not diagnose by telephone (gosh, really) and needed to see a pharmacist (!, again). So, went to one whose reaction basically was “why do GPS keep doing this, we can’t do this” and then to another who at least had a look and said “ok, just looks blocked - not infected. Needs to be syringed”. So, back to the GP for what you would think would be a nurse appointment only to be told - “we don’t do this any more. Try, such-and-such clinic”. Did - cost £100. I have now been advised to try, wait for it, Spec Savers where this costs a mere £55.Sure, there are bigger issues. Sure, the NHS has real problems. But is driving an ever increasing number of people away the solution?
