Musician Playing Near Turnham Green Station

Really nice guitar playing. Brought a bit of a smile to everyone who stopped to listen. NJPwills.com is his website where I guess he might have posted some music. If you’re nearby you might want to have a listen.

Cat Owners in CHISWICK… Ringworms

Hi cat owners near Chiswick…Sending this message as my cat has recently got ringworms which was caught from another cat in the area. He likes to go over the fence and one day I discovered some fur was missing. Took him to the vets and found out it’s ringworm. I live on The Avenue and urgently urge cat owners to look out for any signs of ringworm. Signs can be loss of hair or scab or flaky skin. It can be very itchy. It’s highly contagious and other cats can be affected and humans too. I now have to give medication and disinfect my house as can be affected again once treated. So please get your cat checked and let’s all keep our fur babies safe Thank You 😊

...in exchange for a small donation to https://www.vnanimalaid.org. They do brilliant work and are really struggling financially.  They will have to close if they don't get donations immediately.  A friend has actually visited there and seen for herself.  I have just donated £300 but they need more. You can text me 07778 183003. Thank you.

Estate Agents damaging walls - Dexters and KFH

Keep getting estate agents hammering in nails, screwing in bolts etc into my garden wall with for sale and to let signs. Dexters and KFH are the last lot. Wall is now riddled with holes and broken nails. What can be done to get them to repair the damage caused?

Building work on garage spaces

So gutted to hear that the proposals to demolish and build on our garage spaces behind Quintin court is going ahead. Just got a letter on Friday. As a resident the disruption and devastation this will cause is saddening. We will lose our little community and peace. The council are just making money opportunities whilst an existing building the the station house pub at the end of Spencer road remains derelict and gradually falling apart.  This could be used and converted to housing immediately. Also there will be disruption to access to Chiswick station for many people who use station road as an entry/exit point.

What has happened to politics surreal

A Labour councillor standing for re-election tomorrow who allegedly shared an article that denied the Holocaust, said 'Hitler was right' and called Anne Frank a 'bisexual degenerate' has been suspended from the party.

Removing historic mature London Planes on Fauconberg Rd

I've just had a flyer through the door from Hounslow Highways signed by Gary Winterbottom (Community Environment Officer) saying they will remove 'four of the large historic London Planes Platanus x hispanica'on Fauconberg Road on 9 May i.e. in 10 days time. The reason given is two of the trees 'have large cavities to the main trunk' (so presumably otherwise healthy) and two have 'fungal brackets around the base' and all have proximity to the highway (hence risk of falling onto the highway guess .... really??).  There is nothing mentioned about alternatives to felling them (for exampling reinforcing the base or treating the fungus) nor is there any time allowed for feedback or consultation. They point you to a generic 'general enquiry' form for Hounslow Highways if one has questions or concerns. Given the huge importance of mature trees to our community in so many ways, this feels awfully glib, ill considered, silo'd and unnecessarily rushed. But is there anything we residents and citizens can actually do to stop our undemocratic council from ramming yet another ill considered and damaging initiative through with no input at all from the community?? I'm appalled by this but don't want to waste my energy on another stupid fait accompli if that's what it's going to be.  Or we could chain ourselves to the trees .....????

Do you want Labour Councillors representing Chiswick  ?

If you don't, and I certainly dont, vote Conservative. Whilst I've thought about voting Green and Lib Dems, I believe, although I maybe wrong, that would be a wasted vote much the same as spoiling your Ballot Paper. All of Chiswicks Conservative Councillors have worked long and hard and objected to unpopular schemes implemented by the Labour Cabinet at Hounslow House. They deserve your votes and the residents and businesses in Chiswick deserve to have our voices heard and that won't happen if Labour Councillors are voted in on 5th May.Tin hat at the ready...

RIP Tony Brooks

One of the very top F1 drivers of the 1950's, aged 90. Narrowly missed being World Champion for 1959.  Stirling Moss had said of his former team-mate and friend: "Brooks was a tremendous driver, the greatest - if he'll forgive me saying this - 'unknown' racing driver there's ever been. He was far better than several people who won the world championship.

Hounslow Council say they made a mistake

Many, but not Hounslow Council, will have noticed that the post code on the return envelope for postal votes is not that of the Council. They say it is a mistake.  You wouldn't think it possible in the 21st century for such a possibility: but Hounslow Council managed it.  The question is, where will the Post Office deliver them to?
