Very little information seems to be available online re the candidates for the Chiswick Riverside Ward. Do any of them live in Chiswick ?

First time in 30 years there is a Labour Councillor in Riverside. The anti-LTN campaign wasn't enough to protect fortress Riverside for the Tories. Welcome to local politics Amy Croft. We shall get you acquainted with the delightful Giles family soon.

With the exception of the solitary Labour gain in Riverside and the Tories in Hanworth the outcome of the whole exercise in LBH was depressingly familiar.Shouldn't the two major parties just agree to carve up the borough on a five to one basis and be done with the expense of the whole charade?  Let's face it, it's fairly much what they've been doing for years anyway.

Wasn't it Karen Liebreich herself who posted if Jo Biddolph won Karen would extend an olive branch (presumably from one of her traders) and work together toward a better future? Maybe she should arrange a photo op with all three newly elected Turnham Green Councillors? Either way, Paul, maybe you should do a Vulcan mind meld type thing and take a page from Karen's play book rather than spout your usual angry rubbish. I often wonder what happened to you that made you this way. But I'm not professionally qualified to say.

Thanks very much Richard. It was tough fought, and very close in the end - with 4 re-counts(!).I'm really glad Gabby and Peter got in. They are incredibly committed to the local area and will be great representatives. Congratulations to Councillor Croft too - although I worry that she lives on the other end of the borough, so may struggle to represent Riverside while being so far away.On my side, it's time for some R&R before I stage a comeback :)

Feltham, just down the road so she must know the area intimately and its challenges extremely very well.  I do hope she responds to local needs and understands what’s happening here. We should all start pressing her on that. I’m going to see what she thinks about the policy of directing local traffic past schools and if she approves.

Thanks Paul, as I’ve pointed out before, ‘traffic management’ in Grove Park, might suit the ideologically driven, but it doesn’t work and causes more issues than it addresses. I will share those thoughts with her and invite to come and have a look. If she can spare the time.

Traffic management works great as I am hearing from more and more of our neighbours who are enjoying quiet, safe,  unpolluted residential streets and are quite happy to drive the "wrong" way down their road for a few hundred metres for the benefits that mini-sacrifice brings. The ideological are those who so transparently try to use faux victimisation to support their wrong-headed view that driving is freedom and stumble into the trap that you keep walking into. Only the most ideological car supremacists object to school streets like you do Russell. The Chiswick Riverside Ward has been a guaranteed Tory stronghold for 30 years until you and the GPG opened the door to a Labour group who didn't even bother to canvass because they had written it off. Thank you for helping to make this a marginal ward ready for the taking in four years. Sorry Seb but people do actually like to live in streets without thousands of rat-running cars every day.

As Ron and Ranjit live at the other end of the Borough and are conscientious and responsive, while Patrick Barr neither lived nor worked in Chiswick for much of his time as Councillor it seems to be possibleAs for extending an olive branch to Cllr Biddolph, sure. I will bring one to the next Flower Market. As far as I know she has yet to visit, so I will even throw in a congratulatory coffee.

I think Hanif Khan said he didn't know about the Staveley Road barrier, maybe that was one of his mistakes. Maybe we should applaud his honesty on this occasion.  So I think Ms Croft should definitely visit and drive around the area.  It's all well and good being a cyclist and having an opinion, but these road changes are all about limiting drivers so that's how she needs to view them and soon.  Did she express any thoughts on LTN's and cycle lanes, anyone know?

"these road changes are all about limiting drivers so that's how she needs to view them"Yes, they are all about limiting car journeys, Maggie.  That's what they are designed to do.Between 2009 and 2019 London traffic increased 21%.A Roads and motorways saw an increase of 1.4%.Minor roads saw an increase of 57%.  The annual increase in traffic on minor roads has to be stopped because we're not going to knock down houses to widen the roads, and even if we did, that would just increase traffic more.The pollution, the congestion and the traffic accidents are literally killing us.

Traffic increased 21%.Deliveries. Ubers. Amazon.Wonder what the break down is. Not to mention the impact on traffic caused by LTNs. When you try to shove stuff through a pinhole, things get clogged. Traffic increases. I know you all like to blame private cars and you all like to assume they are all driven by lonesome souls, but that's not the root cause. Surely the righteous indignation should be aimed at Amazon, etc., or perhaps your kids for constantly ordering stuff on their phones.Used to be you might go out and shop for the family, ticking boxes as you went. You might drive to do it. You might walk to do it. Cycle if you want.Now each and every member of the family can trigger multiple deliveries without each other knowing it from the comfort of one's very own bed. So what would have been a single journey for the family is now dozens of deliveries.

Air pollution kills around 7 million people per year.There are around 130 million people born every year.  Thus the world's population will increase even as more people are killed by dirty air.The process of air pollution killing us is slow - asthma, lung infections, cancer or dementia all take a while.  The symptoms of dementia are particularly hard on families...a person's gradual loss of critical faculties, poor judgement and confusion over many years until it is just a living husk and the person is gone.  I hope that answers your question.

My mother has been asthmatic her entire life.She also has dementia and Ed is right, it is incredibly hard on the family.She turned 88 on Saturday.Per Ed's very own logic, it seems appropriate to blame him and his business model for my mother's poor health. Something I note he refuses to address. Fact is, he jets stuff globally to pay the mortgage.

Yes but it’s just nonsense from Hypocrite Ed. There is no concrete evidence that pollution causes dementia. There are some that claim that pollution ‘MAY’  contribute but there is still much more research to be done. The cycle lane lobby are just so desperate these days to clutch at straws and catastrophise as the world now realises how devastating and dangerous the cycle lanes are and how counter productive they are to the economy. Chiswick voters have demonstrated overwhelmingly that they do not support the streetspace program. The cycling cabal are now running very scared. Their days are numbered.
