So sad to hear about his passing, a great character and I especially loved him in New Tricks. Rula Lenska his partner / wife of many years still lives in Chiswick i believe.

And only 74. My wife remembers seeing him in Twelfth Night at the Royal Court Theatre in 1967(?). Patrick Mower was in the same production.

Used to see Dennis,John Thaw and George Cole round the streets of North Ken and Notting Hill filming The Sweeney and Minder when I was growing up. They all always had time for local people. RIP to one of Britain's legends!

Sad loss indeed. Loved watching 'New Tricks' as felt there was real camaraderie between them. Lovely that he finally found the 'Love of his life' in Pam. Sincere condolence to Pam, family and friends
