Cat Owners in CHISWICK… Ringworms

Hi cat owners near Chiswick…Sending this message as my cat has recently got ringworms which was caught from another cat in the area. He likes to go over the fence and one day I discovered some fur was missing. Took him to the vets and found out it’s ringworm. I live on The Avenue and urgently urge cat owners to look out for any signs of ringworm. Signs can be loss of hair or scab or flaky skin. It can be very itchy. It’s highly contagious and other cats can be affected and humans too. I now have to give medication and disinfect my house as can be affected again once treated. So please get your cat checked and let’s all keep our fur babies safe Thank You 😊

It is a common problem and a fungal one which is not deadly but needs treating.  Many years ago when both I and my cat showed the characteristic ring.  An ultraviolet test proved it to be the hedgehog variety.  Sadly we no longer have hedgehogs.

Any hair loss insist on a ringworm test before they start giving differentshampoos etc., my dog had it for a few years and every time another shampoo so insist on a scraping as I did which was left for a few weeks before it show up as ringworm, course of tablets and gone.

I know it’s not deadly but it is highly contagious. I don’t have hedgehogs near me. There’s a few cats in the neighbourhood and it’s not that common as none of my cats have had it before and all outdoor.

My cat has had a test and it confirmed ringworms. There different treatments. My vet has advised me on the best medication. Thanks!
