Watch out for power-washing scam

There is a group of men knocking on doors in the Chiswick area offering to power wash paving. The trick they use is to clean a small section as a demonstration so that it looks odd if the resident doesn't agree to complete the job. They appear to be targeting older, more vulnerable residents and then overcharging them.

They have targeted several people in our road yesterday and again today. They asked an elderly neighbour £120 to clean her front path, then, when she refused, asked for £50. Good thing she refused. Some other people accepted though…

There is very little more satisfying than power washing a dirty patio. I'd be tempted to pay people to let me do it for them.

I dont think anyone is enforcing the ban. The police have said its nothing to do with them.

There isn't a hosepipe ban/ power wash / car wash ban if it's being operated by a business. i.e. A car wash company (fixed or mobile) or driveway cleaning business etc.
