Pavement works due to CS9 between Chiswick Lane & Airedale Avenue

I have owned a property with off-street parking on Chiswick High Road for 27 years. Suddenly, last Wednesday, without any prior notification, the council started digging up the pavement, resulting in the off-street parking being impossible to access and cars on the driveway unable to get across to leave the property.In Hounslow council's usual fashion, workmen have now (slowly) started to rebuild the (narrower) pavement with unsuitable brick pavers and no dropped kerb. In what parallel universe do we now live whereby the council thinks they can deprive residents of access to their own driveways without notice, do away with a dropped kerb, which the freeholder paid to have instated and leave the residents with no alternative but to park on (costly) meters with no redress?Calls to the Hounslow Highways Fix My Streets complaints page remain unanswered & workmen seem unable to tell me with any degree of accuracy when the works will be completed. If you live between Airedale Avenue & Chiswick Lane & are similarly affected right now (or will be as the works progress) please message me so that we can put pressure on LBH to put right this situation. Another scandalous waste of taxpayer money.

British Aiways eVoucher question

I booked flights in Jan 2020 to fly in May 2020. As you know this didn't work out too well for anybody.I received eVouchers that expired in April 2021 which was then extended to April 2022.As things stand it looks likely that I will not be able to fly before they expire.Looking at BA's website is appears that the vouchers have been extended again to 30th Sept 2023 but it is not entirely clear.I have heard nothing from BA and it is impossible to get to speak to a helpdesk.Does anybody have any suggestions or knows what's what.If so I would be grateful to hear from you.

Missing cat - just neutered

KNOWN FOR HIS INDEPENDENCE OF MIND: NOW APPEALING AGAINST VERDICT. Cllr Richard Eason is facing deselection by the Labour Party. It means he is unlikely to be a Labour candidate for Osterley & Spring Grove ward at the Council elections in May, a seat he has held since 2018. His case has been considered by London Labour's Interview Assessment Panel which concluded he was not "a good Labour Party representative who would continue to contribute as an effective member of the team". Central to this is his call in November 2020 for the resignation of Labour colleagues Cllrs Hanif Khan and Katherine Dunne over the implementation of the cycleway through Chiswick.

Stolen number plates

Sometime over last night, neighbour had both plates taken off his car.  He arranged a lock up garage to get the car off the street and rang the Police to advise them..  Rather than be helpful and sympathetic to his plight, he was told that if he drove without plates and was stopped he would be fined, have 3 points on his licence, no insurance, etc. etc.  No suggestions as to how to overcome this issue.However good neighbour suggested he contact local garages to see if they had red plates and could assist.

A new cycle park in Chiswick

Not content with a cycle super highway, the pavement on The Avenue, outside St Michael and All Angels Church has now become a parking bay for Lime hire bikes, totally blocking it to pedestrians. Really not good for the elderly, disabled and parents with pushchairs, who have to go into the road to get past (I took a photo to illustrate it, but don't seem to be able to post it here). #KeepBikesOffThePavement!!!

Local Covid Booster sites

Does anyone know of any local pharmacies or health centres offering walk-in boosters on Wed or Thu please?  The NHS website is not quite up to date and Borough websites mention different sites so not sure what’s correct. It’s a rapidly changing picture!Thank you!

20 Metre Mast Planned Next To Chiswick Old Cemetery

Mast application for prior approval is on a location inside the Old Chiswick Conservation Area and abuts Chiswick House Conservation Area. This has not be represented by the applicant correctly. The mast itself with associated cabinets, that will act as a pinchpoint on a busy pavement, will be see across a wide radius in Chiswick. It appears there are multiple applications for sites in process. 5G only has a limited range that will force the need for more masts. So be aware!

Christmas Tree lights

I have a number of sets of old filament type lamps but they keep failing. I'm not impressed with the LED sets I've seen. They aren't bright enough. Anyone found a good set ? I know I probably won't find any in stock now but at least I can sort some out for next year.
