Dog Sitter Monday Night

Does anyone know of a dog sitter who is happy to share an evening with 2 standard schnauzers watching TV at my home in Grove Park on Monday evening? My 2 dogs cannot cope with being left alone for more than an hour or so and I would like to go to the theatre!

Vanessa Feltz has gone (along with her big pay packet), Robert Elms has clung onto Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings and Jo Good is now late at night. The BBC love telling us that it's OUR BBC but in practice it's the BBC who decide how they want it presented. You've got to be really good to cheese of both left and right-thinking viewers/listeners and alienate ethnic listeners too.

Community Fibre broadband

Considering moving to broadband with Community Fibre as their prices are lower than Virgin.   Does anyone have any experience using their service in Chiswick (Glebe estate area in particular) - reliability, speed, customer service etc?  Thanks in advance for any feedback

Penalty Charge Notices

Today, I received two more for driving down Staveley Road from the A316. This is the fifth I've received in all. Three before they changed the rules, because of the roadworks on the A4, and now two since they reversed the decision to allow people to drive down ther to relieve the congestion. All for a road I've driven down for 40 years before they brought in this purely revenue raising offence. So far I've got off one and I've appealed the latest two. So annoying and blatantly unfair.

Free Trachycarpus

I have a large Trachycarpus which I want to dispose of. I bought a pair of them about 20 years ago. For various reasons 1 didn't get planted and is still in its original plastic tub. The one that was planted was over 15ft 5 yrs ago when I moved. I brought with me the potted one. It is 1.4m tall stem, 1.9m inc tub. It looks very neglected at the moment. The tub must be completely full of roots as its never been repotted but once planted and given a chance will probably grow really well.I bought it from a trade nursery 20 years ago and it still cost me £110 then. I'm offering it free to a good home but you must collect and you will need at least 2 strong men to lift it. To get it into a car/van probably 3 or more. I want to get rid of it in the next few days really. I have a skip here for a few days more and if no one wants it it's going in there.

I have 20 or so (more to come) cardboard removal boxes of various sizes. I could put them into recycling but this is rather a waste as they are quite expensive to buy. Anyone want them?

Theft/mugging?  of Bulgarian lady called Zhanina

This morning I came across a backpack abandoned in Chiswick House grounds.  It was full of personal items and may bave been ditched by someone who had stolen it.  If you know a young Bulgarian lady by the name of Zhanina who has lost her backpack please tell her that one of the lovely wardens has taken it to the Estate Office on site.  All of this can't have happened long ago - there was still a warm flask of something to drink inside the bag.

More Local Children Going to School Hungry

Front pageSo on the back of that i take it hounslow and ealing will be putting council tax and rents up next year to put further pressure on families unable to cope now.And we have talks and Consultations about future towns while i think chiswick has just one youth centre.I think the councils need to think very hard what and where they are pumping money into short to medium term which in my view anything not important needs to be put on hold.

Employment Law Query

Hi,I'm currently engaged with a local firm on a settlement claim but growing disillusioned with the handling.- Missing deadlines they've set to submit paperwork- Haven't proactively 'advised' on best approach and have been willing to take my lead.- Not been available to meet and ability to contact by phone has tailed off since I gave instruction.The (non-exhaustive) above list is giving cause for doubt as to the advice I've received to date and it's possibly worth flagging to the Ombudsman after complaining to the firm.Is the above via this firm par for the course - or should I seek alternate advice?Any steer welcome!   Thanks all.

Sale of The Crown

W4.com has a story today about the sale of The Crown. It manages to miss the most important part - that this building was once the site of Chiswick Police Station. When the station was sold, the cells inside were retained. I haven't been to The Crown since the 2017 refurbishment and maybe the cells went then. Or maybe they are still in place? Now, of course, there is no police station in Chiswick...
