Gunnersbury Park car park open?

Does anyone know if it's now open again?  I recall they shut it to discourage anyone but immediate locals but now we've been given the green light to go further I'd like to go there.

Future hope!

I was at Ham Common on Friday. I noticed that a pub there had its doors open and on two occasions I saw drinks being brought out of the pub for consumption on the Common. Is there something I am missing? Is there some way around the current restrictions? Can't wait to get back to my local!

Have we fallen out of love with the office?

Now that so many people are working from home and more employers have accepted and encouraged this and even Parliament is mostly working from home - and hotseating or hotdesking is no longer the in-thing - have we fallen out of love with the office? https://www.1843magazine.com/features/death-of-the-office?

Please help me oppose new artificial grass pitches on Dukes Meadows

Kings House School, a private school from Richmond, wants to convert some grass sports pitches on Dukes Meadows into artificial grass. (on Riverside Drive, I think it's called the Civil Service Sports Ground). The grass-lands in this area support a variety of birds, such as green wood-peckers, blackbirds, starlings and dunnocks. They also support insects which feed local bats (5 different species of bats have been recorded in that area, according to Kings House own survey). The artificial grass would be detrimental to all this wildlife. Nothing is sadder than watching a bird trying to find worms in artificial grass. The floodlighting would disturb the local bats (according to their own survey). You can oppose the planning application here:http://planning.hounslow.gov.uk/Planning_CaseNo.aspx strCASENO=P/2020/1063But be quick: the closing date is 25th May, which is Monday.thanksSimon

Does anyone know anything about spider/insect bites?

Morning. Be interested if anyone can help me identify something that bit me whilst trying to tidy up in my garden shed yesterday. I went to pick up an old bag of compost and felt a sharp pain at the base of one of my fingers... I quickly looked time and saw something moving under my hand! Being a bit of an arachnophobe my first reaction was to throw the bag to the floor and run back into the house! I only briefly saw a mid brown shape - not sure it was even a spider because it all happened so quick. What I did have were two tiny puncture wounds about 5mm apart on my finger - whatever it was drew blood.Anyway, ventured back into the shed a bit later, but couldn't find any trace of what had bitten me. Although initially a bit painful, it clearly wasn't poisonous, as no subsequent signs of swelling, etc. although it did shake me up!! I would just love to find out what it was, partly for piece of mind! Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might have done this? I didn't think we had any biting spiders or insects in the UK!

Chiswick Hounslow or Chiswick Ealing?  Desirability

I appreciate that it is very subjective but in estate agent speak which of the two boroughs is generally considered to be the most "desirable"?

House on the market/social distancing

when the rules are that we can meet one family member in our garden, or one non family member in the park, how can our neighbours have a stream of potential buyers viewing their property, this includes entire families, kids etc. and of course the estate agents and the family (5) selling the house. Beggars belief, or am i missing something?

Birthdays card

Hi AllHappy Friday!I need to urgently buy a birthday card. I’d normally go to either Cocktail on the Askew Rd or Post Mark on TGT, but they are both closed. Could anyone please recommend a shop that sells nice ones? I don’t want to buy one that has either a boat, a car, a puppy or a kitten on the front 😂

Help needed with printing

At Age Concern Chiswick we have had to close our premises because of Covid-19.  Our members have thus lost a place to meet others and ACC has lost its main source of income - hire of the premises.  We have applied for a charity grant but we don't know when we will receive a response or what it will be.  We have established an outreach programme for our members and one aspect is to send them a fortnightly newsletter.  Can anyone please suggest how we can get help with the colour printing costs that are involved ?
