Warning to all...

They are going to start circulating a video on WhatsApp that shows how the Covid19 curve is flattening in Argentina.  The file is called "Argentina is doing it", do not open it or see it, it hacks your phone in 10 seconds and it cannot be stopped in any way.  Pass this information on to your family and friends.Now they also said it on CNN.This may not be true, but better safe than sorry.

Help our junior docs get to work by replacing their stolen bikes

To the good people of Chiswick: I spotted a post on the website Nextdoor about two trainee doctors who cycle to work and had their bikes stolen from outside UCLH. One of their colleagues is crowd-funding to buy them replacements. Body of the post and the link to the funding site is below. Please note I have absolutely no connection to these people or their posting at all...From: Melanie TanHelp our junior docs get to work! I work at UCLH in the Anaesthetics dept and last night was unrelenting, I managed to get 2 cups of tea in 12h & my whole team worked super hard to stabilise all the Covid patients. My trainee then comes out to find his bike stolen... needless to say he was super upset. I’m now trying to reach out to as many ppl as possible to crowdfund him & another trainee who also had her bike stolen so they can get new ones to get them to work and continue treating these sick patients. Rapid covid testing in Chiswick

No doubt lots of people have seen the permanent queue that has been outside West London Pharmacy (on CHR) for some weeks as they are offering covid testing. I went in mid December. It costs £69 for the rapid lateral flow test, good price compared to all the other places I researched. The problem is their facilities. Within the shop they have a small 'treatment' room. The room I estimate to be no bigger than 5' x 5' (I'm probably being generous). There is no window and I didn't notice any ventilation. The door is open briefly between patients but it is only very brief as they seem to be testing 10-15 people per hour. The test is a nasal swab and yet they insisted I remove my mask completely. Why??? I am not a doctor, but on a common sense basis the premises do not appear to be suitable for the purpose. If someone goes in there with Covid then the next people into such a small room are going to be potentially exposed to it without the benefit of a mask. Maybe there are official standards and it complies but I would have gone for one of the other testing places if I had known.

An Eventful 2020 For The Chiswick RNLI Lifeboat

Was it really?  In the text it continues: "Rescue numbers are down from 2019 reflecting reduced leisure activity during the lockdowns..." I live close to the Thames and in March through May there was absolutely no activity on the river at all: no rowers or leisure boats like passenger steamers. It was completely dead. In the summer some of the rowers, especially the singles, returned. But only the schools rowing eights returned, and adult rowing clubs have had very reduced activity. Please note that the RNLI has enormous investment reserves which make it the second or third richest charity in the UK, after the RSPA which is the richest. As in previous years the RNLI annual accounts 2019 show healthy invested reserves of £258M. Like the RSPCA the RNLI spends time looking around for things to spend its income on (like generous pension provision for full-time employees). Strange, but true.

Found dog (small, white, black collar)

My husband and I found a little dog with white, short hair and a black collar on Cornwall Grove (off Chiswick Lane) this afternoon. The dog was petrified and a kindly neighbour helped us to get him/her on the lead. The dog is now at Village Vet on the High Road. No tag and it doesn't look like he/she is microchipped. Does anyone know how to upload a photo? We aren't far from Chiswick House so I'm wondering if perhaps someone lost him/her there?

Latest Covid-Denier Idiocy

Actually, it's worse than mere "idiocy".Anyhow, after Colchester Hospital announced that it was at "full capacity" due to Covid patient numbers, the hospital's security people had to remove a group of Covid Deniers who were taking photo's of an empty outpatient corridor and posting them on social media as "proof" that the pandemic was a "hoax".Whereas if they had actually asked the hospital, they would have learned that "under coronavirus pandemic restrictions on social distancing, many outpatient consultations had been moved online or were taking place over the telephone"Further, "physical appointments, tests and procedures had been organised differently to avoid crowded waiting areas", including the outpatient corridor in question.More here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-55531589

Dissertation Survey - Decline of Chiswick High Road

Hi, My name is George and I am currently in my third and final year at Newcastle University. As part of my final year dissertation I am hoping to collect data with regards to the decline of Chiswick High Road, and the affect that online retail has had on the closure of local businesses. .. amazing grace..

Not exactly spoilt for choice on the W4 worship front this Sunday.  A few can bite on the latest political clickbait thread.  Others can take pleasure pouring more scorn on a super thread begun by a thoroughly sincere 30 year old cyclist..Here's something with a flavour, a bit more “operatic” to consider ..I know nothing about Gospel Music.  And little about soul music, rock music and jazz. So I tuned into BBC 2 last night to see the Aretha Franklin 1972 film Amazing Grace.  Available on Youtube for the next 29 days at about 80 minutes long.The film's been lost to the world since it was made – and only released in 2019.Whatever your taste, if you're at all into serious music, it is an experience.  It's a bit like a free-for-all fronted by a few gospel superstars namely James Cleveland, his band and his choir with the fabulous young Aretha in the lead.   Wildly animated audience (watch out for a young Mick Jagger) and fabulous piano playing... it's a bloody “amazing” 2 night gig...  I loved it..(just suggestin' with so many who are lonely, locked down and with little to do)
