Anyone want any amaryllis bulbs?

I've got four lovely claret-red "Mandela" amaryllis which have done their thing.  I've tried time and time again to over-summer them (is that even a word?  It is now!) in preparation for repeat flowering but I've failed, failed, failed every time.  So if anyone else has greener fingers than me (which is probably just about everyone) and would like to give these bulbs a good home, just PM me.

Spring Booster

I received my invitation to book my Spring Covid-19 Booster and following a call to 119 was given an appointment for this morning at Boots London Kew Vaccination Centre (Kew Retail Park).  Following a text confirmation and 3 reminders I made my way there from Chiswick via public transport, only to be told that not only had they run out of vaccines, I was not even on their list. There were many elderly and physically impaired people being turned away.  The staff, at the Centre, were very apologetic and helpful in re-booking but this is not good.

'Traffic restriction camera' on Hartington Road

Does anyone know precisely where this wretched camera is sited?I gather it's between Ibis Lane and Cavendish Road, but knowing the exact location would be a great help.Thanks in advance.

Missing Cat Pixie

Our beautiful cat Pixie has gone missing since yesterday.  She usually comes home early evening and is in for much for the night.  She is grey and white with yellow/green eyes.  She is incredibly affectionate and friendly and much loved by all the family.  We live on St Albans Avenue and I'm hoping she hasn't wandered too far from home.  If you could please keep a look out for her that would be much appreciated.

I was arranging a meet-up today with a friend who lives in the Netherlands and who hasn't been back to the UK over the past two years. She chose to find accommodation in Chiswick for her stay and quite unsolicited during our WhatsApp exchange wrote:'.... Then got taxi from Hammersmith to Turnham Green accommodation. V lovely new place I found to stay. V relaxed and step out to Chiswick High Street which is full of lot of new and interesting places ... nicely vibrant without busy-ness. Joyful place to stay for my first three nights here.'We met up and it turns out she is staying at the Room 2 which seems to have been something to do with ?Sanderson? wallpaper.So that's one person's positive albeit first impression of Chiswick.

Absolutely outraged to hear about the new plans to police my pooch in Chiswick's common land!Luckily there is a Zoom because there is no way I will be traveling all the way to Barking to receive Mazie's GDCSE !I think they should put an ANPR in Ruth Cadburys downstairs washroom at this point!

My dog is dim - what am I to do?

I am very concerned to read about the new licence requirements that may be introduced for dogs in local parks that were announced TODAY. I am not gullible or dim in anyway but my dog is and I am not sure he would pass the tests needed to get a licence. Does anyone own a bright black lab who would be able to act as a ringer for the Zoom classes?

Cycleway - another deviation from the plan?

Seems the below pics indicated another deviation from the cycleway consultation plan as published. The raised red pavement is the actual crosswalk. So why the four additional depressed curbs (all of which are gray concrete) two on each side of the intersection of Chiswick Lane and the High Road? Also new is the so-called corduroy paving which is also yellow but ribbed not dotted. Seems to me these will be used by cyclists to make the turn to and from Chiswick Lane. So pedal up on the sidewalk, across the pavement — at an intersection no less — then back down into the cycleway. And the corduroy seems to be the alert much like other textured pavement is. No doubt Michael et al can elucidate.

Belmont Primary School new Ofsted rating now: Good

To the parents of children at Belmont Primary School,I was very surprised to see the recent Ofsted rating at Belmont Primary being downgraded to Good from Outstanding. Surprised as it has held such a great reputation and high regard for many years. Also the report didn't really give much detail on why... The comments still sounded excellent!What are your thoughts on the new rating for those with children currently attending? Surprised? Or was this expected?I myself have a 3 year old who may be in the catchment for next year's intake so keen to know what people's opinions are!Thanks,Kyle

Print shops in W4?

The wonderful West London Digital Printing place, down the side of the W4 Post Office, seems to have shut up shop.  Anybody know where they've gone?  Or could recommend an alternative?  I need to copy some music scores (for which I've bought a licence, just in case there are any copyright lawyers out there!).

Litter Clear-Up in Grove Park

On Saturday 26 March the Grove Park Group had a very successful morning picking up litter around Chiswick Station, Chiswick School, Park Road and Grove Park Terrace. We had 11 willing volunteers (including 3 children) who spent an hour collecting 8 bags of rubbish. Many thanks to all of those who helped for their hard work - and thanks also to Damian at the coffee kiosk by the station for staying open until 3pm to provide free refreshments for the thirsty volunteers. Because this worked so well, we will do it all again on Saturday 9 April at 10am, meeting in the station forecourt. We discovered that an hour is long enough and leaves a good part of your day free. Not only is it good to clean our streets but it is a good way to meet new people in your area. Chiswick Boat house now being  demolished

The boat house upstream of Barnes Railway Bridge is in the process of being demolished. Heavy equipment is on site.Some while back there was media coverage of what was going to replace it but I have forgotten the details.I do recall talk of a cafe and sports facilities but does anyone know the detail and or have an artist's impression of the new building?
