Any recommendations for a good local locksmith?

who could replace or repair a cellar door lock which has either seized up (I've put graphite spray in it without success) and/or I've lost the keys for it.

Cat fencing/proofing a garden

My mum is looking to install cat fencing to the walls of her first floor terrace to secure it from her cat escaping. Can anyone recommend a specialist company/handyman/fail safe (discrete) system they have been happy with?

Dog Walking

Can anyone recommend a kind dog walker? I need someone for 5 days when I will have an elderly Husky staying with me. He is well behaved and needs an hour's walk a day. I can't do it myself as I am recovering from an operation. Thanks.

Finally a bit of levelling up:Highway Code: The law that could see cyclists fined £2,500 for using a mobile phone while riding. I knew,  if there was any justice,  they’d start wringing money out of the cyclist.  I think this is just the start. It’s about time the cycle lobby got a taste of being the cash cow for a change. Persecution of the motorist won’t go away but it’ll do . Think I’ll  a break from the forum

Should biological men compete in woman’s event?

This is a challenging subject, on balance my own view is no only from the view point that the male biological structure is much stronger than females hence an unfair advantage. I guess this is way we have male and female events

Chertsey Road (not the Great Chertsey Road)

I discovered the other day that an entire street running north from Wellesley Road, up to Surrey Crescent, between Clarence Road and Stonehill Road has disappeared from the map: it was called Chertsey Road and had about 20 terraced houses on it.  Much of the site now seems to be occupied by Melody Court.  I shall be looking into local historical records to see if I can find out why and when it was demolished (not before 1964 as the electoral register compiled in October that year shows it fully occupied, so it was not, by contrast with Surrey Crescent, a direct result of the creation of the Chiswick Roundabout of the flyover).  Do any longer-term residents of Chiswick know more?

South Western Railway

Great to see a full service on London Underground today yet a pathetic two trains an hour from South Western Railways. Once again blaming the virus for their abysmal reduced service. From four trains an hour down to three trains an hour during Jan & Feb down to two an hour from today. What is the local MP doing about this? What about the Transport Secretary? Getting people back to work is hard enough without this.SWR tweet this morning quotes: "we cannot confirm when additional trains will run in the Hounslow loop area" Interesting as they seem to be able to predict that all their staff will be off with Covid for the forseeable.

Perspective

This evening I watched the BBC 6 O'clock news followed by the local news.The main news included pictures of murdered Ukranians lying in the streets. Pictures which were substantiated by satellite from the middle of March. When the news of this carnage was over the BBC switched to the local news.Here it featured an article about excessive noise on TfL trains and a quote from its illustrious leader Khan stating that noise reduction was being treated as a highest priority.Come on, get your priorities right. What matters in this twisted world? At the risk of being sexist,WHAT MATTERS, MAN UP!
