Councillor Guy Lambert should resign and apologize

"going west along King Street it’s now too narrow for a car to overtake a bike (or vice versa) which led to an uncouth youth in a large Audi blowing his horn at me. If I am asymptomatic he may regret his impatience, as I caught up with him at traffic lights and gave him the benefit of my opinion in a strongly projected voice (and no doubt with a side dish of micro droplets)."I read this with genuine incredulity.Lambert may think he is very witty but I doubt the  people who have lost loved ones will think so.I am incenced by this self absorbed man's lack of awareness and, to top it all, the stupidity to crow about it on social media.He should resign and apologise today!

Cycle Lanes

Cycling along the two way cycle lane stretching all along King St today I had a lightbulb moment.Why not make all bus lanes 24 hours to exclude all traffic except bicycles and motorbikes?This would keep buses moving and offer a good level of protection to other users, save a lot of time, money and pavement loss.I for one feel safer when I in the bus lane.Clearly I have missed something preventing it but I can't think what.

Recycling

Thank you all for your useful links and comments. I think my point is nothing much has changed since Hounslow started road side collecting, many years ago, yet the packaging industry has. What is the point in on line suppliers going to trouble of supplying their goods in recyclable material if it has to go into landfill. Has anyone told them of the bad news? The garden centres have changing from black to green pots so that the recycling facilities can now take them why can't they take new times of material apart from all the old stuff that we have had for years. The world has moved on. Am afraid complacency springs to mind. The local authorities need to push it forward.

Synchronised Reversing.

In case you weren't aware (the fire brigade and police seemed not to have been), Wellesley Road and Stilehall Gardens are now closed at their junctions with the South circular (west bound). The signage warning is pretty illegible/obscured by trees, so plenty of vehicles are making it as far as the new barrier before finding out. It's crying out for a ROAD CLOSED ACCESS ONLY sign. Waze, google maps etc are now updated, so i'd guess it is more local/regular drivers who are now finding out. The barrier is similar to the big planter at Dan Mason tunnel fwiw.

Recycling

After all the years of recycling why is it that Hounslow Council are still unable to recycle much of what we throw away. Since lockdown and the need to get more delivered directly I have been pleasantly surprised by the amount of packing, mainly plastic, that has the recycle sign or the words ' please recycle me'. However having had my plastic box not collected because of 'wrong refuse' I have been informed that most of the plastic, which accompanies deliveries as padding or covering, even though it says it is recyclable, cannot be recycled by Hounslow and is all destined for land fill. Why is this the case?

Who supports Capital Motors and Top Hat Dry Cleaners ?

"Paul Sahota of Capital Motors, which is off Devonshire Road, is adamantly against the proposed closure and says it would force his business to close if cars can’t access the garage. He looks after a huge number of the local cars with MOTs, repairs and servicing.Mike Moran, who runs the Top Hat Drycleaners on Devonshire Road says that his turnover is down by 80% since the lockdown started and added “If this is made permanent, I reckon I will be closed by Christmas”Both of these long standing, respected and valued businesses have expressed their deep concerns about the closure of Devonshire Road to traffic which will adversely affect their ability to trade. As a long standing customer of both of these excellent businesses how am I to get my car to Paul and deliver and collect my heavy dry cleaning and collect it from Mike ?Are LBH and the Cycling fraternity happy to see these businesses go bust ? Because on the other thread the Cyclists appear to think it's a great idea to close Devonshire Road to through traffic. A poorly thought out idea with zero concern for some of our much loved businesses.

Reporting someone who fails to quarantine

Don’t think it’s possible.  A couple have returned back from France to move in with highly vulnerable elderly person who has been shielding with live in carer since lockdown.  Turned up unnannounced. Plan to stay several months. No quarantine. They drove.  They also plan to visit grandchildren in another part of country. The rest of the family are so angry. All their efforts have been undone. None of the rest of the family has visited in the entire time. Irresponsible. I think it’s time to name and shame and report people rather than track and trace.
