Last Night of the Proms
This was always meant to be an "end of term" celebration by the prommers of eight weeks of fabulous concerts and, despite a bit of unnecessary tinkering recently, it has remained a great experience whether one is in the hall or watching at home. What makes the BBC think it needs to put on a Last Night in or near the usual format at all this year? What exactly is to be celebrated and by whom? Why don't they use the opportunity to put on something entirely different?
