My son has just started Year 10 and finds some aspects of Maths a little tricky. We are looking for someone that can just help with any gaps at this stage.  Please let me know if you have any recommendations for a Maths Tutor. I  am looking for a qualified Teacher.

Anyone else with CHISWICK ideas from chiswick collected money Ive one Funding the hogarth youth centre which the last i remember it had 4 years left in 2019 before money run out. Before that it was under threat due to council cuts ( central goverment cuts) which hounslow were going to close.

Pollution from exhaust fumes in gridlocked traffic

I see from the front page article that several Chiswick residents who are  "in the front line of the fight against Covid 19"  have written to Grant Shapps supporting the traffic measures put in place by Hounslow Council. I would like to hear these residents' views on the danger to our respiratory health from having to breathe in the exhaust fumes from the resulting gridlocked traffic. The borough of Wandsworth, (interestingly enough, home to Sadiq Khan), has suspended its LTN measures. I think Hounslow should do likewise.

E-scooters & Cyclists etc.

Riders of any vehicle being driven on a public road should by law be compelled to wear a high visibility vest, ideally with a “numberplate” on the back. This would make riders visible and accountable.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0bgpc2f/the-secret-life-of-landfill-a-rubbish-historyI caught a bit of this last night and will have to go back for more as I have not seen it before.An archaeological dig into old landfill.  The bit I saw was about those things like batteries that we used to throw away and which now are a problem being unearthed and washed away due to the number of landfills close to the sea and the increased number of storms that climate change brings.  Nowadays operatives and archaelogists can carry electronic gadgets that will warn them of the dangers of a lot of methane and can measure the amount of dangerous toxic metals leaking out into the ground.  Why we now have rules and regulations and are supposed to sort out, separate and dispose differently of some of these things from our waste today.

Bicycles and Cars

It looks like it is going to be easier to get around on bicycles now.  Better and safer road access and facilities.  But shouldn't that result in more accountability and awareness when we ride our bicycles?  I know bicycles cause far fewer accidents than cars, but it is common when crossing the road at a crossing (Pelican or Zebra) that a bicycle ignores the crossing and rides straight through.  If there is traffic crossing, they often ride onto the pavement and join again after the junction.  These are not isolated instances; it happens most time I cross (often with children).  Strange that the person on the bike never wants to make eye contact when they do this.  I know cars can do this as well, but at least there is a chance they will get caught on camera and fined.So, with the new world order, new laws, that may bring more of a sense of equality...1. Free compulsory registration of all bicycle riders, age 12 or over.2. Registration provided after free online exam and cycle proficiency test.3. All riders must display registration number clearly when riding bicycle.  Either on bicycle or on person.4. Dedicated cycle inspectors, that can stop riders for any breach of traffic law or for not clearly displaying registration number and issue on the spot fines.5. Extend traffic warden role to cover the cycle inspector role.6. Camera enforcement of all traffic laws covering bicycle users.7. If there is surplus revenue from fines it would be put back into cycle schemes.

Should we expect sharp increase in Covid infections in Acton/Chiswick?

Looking at the details of where there were the most infections over the last few weeks I noticed there was a spike in Southall when they opened a testing centre there.Now that they have opened one in Acton I wonder if we are about to see a similar pattern. For a while now in both Acton and Chiswick there wasn't really a testing centre that was particularly convenient and I think a lot of people self-isolated when they got ill without bothering to get tested. Now it should be much easier to get a test if symptoms appear.Cases seem to be going up a lot any way but if they really shoot up locally it may not be as alarming as it first appears.

Didn't Councillors assure us that Turnham Green Terrace Restrictions weren't about revenue?

I distinctly recall councillor Guy Lambert saying on this very forum that the access restrictions weren't about raising money and officers had told him they didn't expect that much would be raised. Was he misled?

Has anyone actually got ‘covid’ anymore?

All we hear about are ‘cases’; a ‘case’ being defined by a positive ‘covid’ test result; but the test is unreliable, so a number of tests reported as being positive are negative; so what is the typical false-positive rate… 1%, 2%, 0.5%? And why does the government never make any allowance for these known false readings? At a mere 0.1% false-positive rate, 100 false-positive cases can be expected on 100,000 tests, yet 98 cases are considered to be all genuine and make headline news, and result in draconian social restrictions, shutdowns of pubs and restaurants, imprisonment of students etc; and anyone who turns up at Trafalgar Square to peacefully question the madness are beaten down with batons by police.Wake up you fools.

Brentford FC - parking proposal

So somebody kindly alerted me to the fact that Strand on the Green school is proposing to offer Brentford FC 150 car parking spaces on match days/evenings. There was no consultation with immediate neighbours. Neither the Chiswick Riverside councillors nor SoGA were aware of the propsal.Can you imagine the nuisance we are going to have to put up with, in terms of noise and pollution? Any thoughts?
