Strikes
For the life of me I really do not understand what some of these government ministers are on these days, Steve Barclay (Health) waffling on about how the nurse's claim for 19% rise is too much and he won't discuss it. Surely to God the art of negotiation is that you sit down together and you try and get both sides to reach a reasonable compromise, people do it all the time. Watch some of the dealers on T.V. programmes whether it be bargaining over cars, antiques, salvage, whatever - it works because both sides want to have something the others have. All the government wants to do is demonise the Trades Unions for doing what they exist for, representing their members and protecting their pay and conditions. It's bugger all to do with negotiation, this is an ideological exercise by this rubbish government, our way or the highway 'cause we're the hard men here - pathetic. It seems patently obvious to most people that all these public sector employees going out on unprecedented strikes is because they've had enough, this government is quite happy to keep ensuring all their mates carry on lining their pockets, then they wonder why the people at the bottom of the pile are getting stroppy. They should get down off their high horse and start proper, meaningful talks - there are deals to be done the unions have intimated as much, the ball is in the government's court.
