E3 this morning
Please bear in mind when reading the following that I am barely able to walk, and even reaching a bus stop is very tiring, let alone standing there. But I try to keep moving. At 9.15 today I reached the E3 stop opposite the Town Hall, to catch an E3 to go to M&S. I waited nearly 30 minutes. During that time, I let a 272 go by, but had given up hope and took the next one, thus ensuring that I would have to walk several hundred yards along CHR.It was evident that some incident had occurred, probably at the A4 crossing, as there was a pretty constant traffic queue southbound . Northbound traffic was intermittent, but how did the 272 get through if the E3 was delayed? I arrived at M&S about 45 minutes later than planned. To cap it all, on my return journey, from the bus island on CHR, I boarded an H91 for the one stop ,to crawl across the Green, but the bus pulled up by the 440 stop, the driver announced that the destination had been changed and we had to get out. Why he couldn't make it to the proper stop beats me. So I had farther to crawl. Total time, door to door: 1h30 minutes. Two modest suggestions. 1) TFL, send someone on a bike to leave sign a stops affected by such incidents. 2) TFL drivers, tell passengers boarding that the bus won't be going to the destination shown. And please, no well-meaning hints about adapted bikes, mobility scooters et al. You don't know my circumstances which make such hints useless.
