Devonshire Road - 2 Way to POWT

Wasn't it just a few days ago the forum brain trust was mocking the esteemed Professor Pike for suggesting that Devonshire Road could be fully pedestrianised after Prince of Wales Terrace and the road made two way to Chiswick High Road? Apparently chaos would ensue. Not enough room to cope with the traffic. Parking would have to be removed and even then .... Thames Water say "hold my beer". Traffic notice has suspended one way.

"Richard, there is a difference between a street with spaces to pass that can accommodate very low levels of traffic in both directions and a two-lane road designed to take continuous two-way flow. PoW Terrace is an example of the first and Devonshire Road could be similarly."Just don't ask how I got Thames Water to demonstrate my point!

Given Thames Water's generally dreadful first time fix rate, it will be an experiement that you will be able to monitor for some time :-)

Why are Tom and Paul obsessed with Devonshire Road. Who wants it to be pedestrianised. Have local residents, business and broader community been asked?

There is another one acting as a bollard at the junction with Glebe St too. Bliss between them.

We have the same locally with gas main replacement. Yet another letter this morning to warn of disruption between Monday 7 August and the end of November and that "we may need to enter your premises to replace the supply pipe".  Yet again, just like five months ago, I have sent photos of the rather neat job they did......in replacing the pipe.

At work, we had a smart gas meter with both analogue and digital read-outs that the former supplier was able to read remotely and send accurate bills. The new supplier could not do so, so they changed the whole unit for one that appeared identical. They still could not read it remotely so they have now replaced the digital read-out meter that we could also read with one that does not show a reading at all. We await the next bill with interest.....
