The question is less whether or not Chiswick needs a Spoons and more that Grove Park needs a pub.A well-run good value establishment would be a real boon to many locals for otherwise the nearest pubs are the riverside ones. Pretty as they are they are very expensive. There are interesting plans to rejuvenate the shopping parade area opposite the pub but they make much less sense if The Station House remains shut. Hopefully this rumour is true.

If true, it would be a good thing - reasonably priced beer, perfectly adequate food and usually a welcoming atmosphere. What's not to like ?

I may be wrong here,but hasn't 'spoons tried to get into Chiswick high rd more than once and been knocked back?Didn't they try the old Job Center on the gunnesbury end of the high rd?

I recall a Wetherspoons opening in Chiswick around 1992/3 and accepting two opening lunch invitations.It was situated just beyond the bus depot, and near Frankie Dettori's lovely Italian restaurant.The food and drink prices were great value but it all lacked a bit of joie de vivre.
