There's a camera car hiding in Park Road South near the barrier in Staveley Road. Its clocking vehicles driving from the CoOp end towards the right turn into Staveley Road

COVID Booster - no centres in Chiswick

Does anyone know why there are no vaccination centres in Chiswick, Brentford, Kew or Richmond?I have just booked my COVID booster & had to book it in Ealing and have no idea where the venue is!

Olive oil

Since the disappearance of the much-missed Adamou's from CHR, I've been traipsing down to the Athenian Grocery in Moscow Road, Bayswater, every three or four months to buy a 5-litre can of Kolymvari olive oil. I'm about due for a refill, and was wondering if anyone knows of a closer and more convenient store where I might purchase a can of Greek extra virgin. (I know this is a real 21st century problem, but I've always found ChiswickW4 to be a very helpful resource in such circumstances)

LBH Planning Permission B&Q

Do they ever reject anything? Only a matter of time before this one got waived through. Yet again zero in the plan for development of the train & tube stations and local infrastructure that will not be able to cope with this rapid mass development.

Beware! Builder Scam

I received a series of emails purporting to come from the builder who is going to repoint the front of my house next year asking for half the fee now in order to reserve a booking for February. I did question this but got a very plausible response. I also checked on line for paying builders in advance and asked the person who recommended the builder if this was how she paid. Fortunately, I am in France for the weekend and replied that I could not therefore access my bank account. This morning I got a phone call from the builder to say that his website had been seriously hacked and the hackers were asking his clients for money. I have reported this to Action Fraud. Please be very careful if you are asked for payment in advance. I could have lost about £3000.

Why don’t Hounslow take cardboard

I have put out some broken down cardboard box’s beside  my recycling box’s and the the Council employees haven’t taken them. has there been a ban on cardboard collection?

Council tree give away at Dukes Meadows

Had a few people come to the market looking for trees the council is giving away today. Unfortunately we know nothing about it. Looked on the council website and it says collect from Dukes Meadows, but no clue where.If anyone knows, please post so we can let pope who come enquiring at the Fid Market know.Would have been happy to help, as a collection point, if asked.

Rupa Huq

Is my MP and I agree with her on many things but she sometimes has really serious lapses of judgment such as applauding the Fisher's Lane closure - thanks, Rupa, no woman I know would walk home there after 4 pm now - and teaming up with the sleazeball 'kinder' Matt Hancock.  He was very kind indeed to pub landlords and his mates when doling out coronavirus money to produce protection which dismally failed, leaving taxpayers in hoc to millions,  but not very kind to his wife when he snogged his mistress behind her back. Sorry, Rupa, you aren't as awful as Ruth Cadbury who prefers to spend her supporting those overseas rather than her own constituents, but these serious lapses mean I could never vote for you.

E10 unleaded fuel

Has anyone on the forum notice their petrol consumption since using the new E10 unleaded petrol.I  believe the government said that the E10 petrol would be approximately 1% less efficient than the old E5 unleaded petrol.My petrol consumption using the E10 petrol has increased dramatically, so much so, I was in the process of booking it into a garage to check it out.But then I searched online about my problem, I was amazed at the amount of results that came up with the same problem as me.But after reading some of the information about E10 it seems that in the reel world, that the E10 is working out 9 to 10% less efficient than the old E5 petrol.Once again on environmental grounds the government introduced this new petrol , but at the same time didn’t increase the fuel duty,. Well they didn’t have to, because your affectedly buying more of it to do the same journeys you did on the old E5.The saying Rip off Britton comes to mind again.

Sainsbury's Parking Fine

Two days ago I received a letter from Euro Car Parks demanding a payment of £70 (£40 if paid within 2 weeks). They claimed that I had left my car parked in Sainsbury's car park, Lower Richmond Road branch, for 24 hours on the 5th and 6th of November. They included two photographs of my registration plate showing the dates and times. I did not, of course, abandon my car in  Sainsbury's between these times, though I probably visited the store on these two occasions, entering by the main entrance and leaving by the Manor Road exit to head for Richmond Park, then reversing this procedure the following day. I have no proof of this but my word, and I wondered if anyone else had experienced a similar situation at this branch of Sainsbury's in the past. My suspicion is that there is a fault in their surveillance cameras, and I would be grateful to know whether anybody else has had a similar experience.

Cancelling Amazon Prime

I'm anxious to cancel my Amazon Prime 'free trial' before the end of November. Amazon don't indicate any obvious way of doing so, but there must be a way of contacting them. Any advice would be welcome. i only accepted it because there seemed to be no alternative when I placed my order.

Lane closures on A316 in Chiswick over Dec & Jan

Received this letter today thru the mailbox:Great Chertsey Road: Essential maintenance of A316 Grove Park BridgeI am writing to let you know that from 6 December 2021 to 17 January 2022 essential maintenanceand refurbishment works will be carried out to Grove Park Bridge on the A316 Great Chertsey Road. Please note, there are two bridges with the name 'Grove Park Bridge in this area. We will work on the bridge over the rail track just north of Chiswick Bridge on the A316 Great Chertsey Road. We will not be working on the 'Grove Park Bridge located off Grove Park Road nearer Chiswick rail station. These works will improve the long-term condition of the bridge, road surface and pavements. How our works may affect you We will work on weekdays from 08:00 until 17:00 and Saturdays from 08:00 to 13:00.We will also work 24 hours a day across two weekends -17 to 20 December 2021 and 14 to 17 January 2022 –during this period. This will enable us to get as much work done as possible and speed up the overall programme The noisiest works will be carried out before 23:00 every night. As agreed with the London Borough of  Hounslow we won't work between 20 December 2021 and 3 January 2022. We will make every effort to finish the works on time, although poor weather conditions may mean we need to reschedule at short notice. Traffic Lane closures will be in place on the A316 Great Chertsey Road on the approaches to Grove Park Bridge-from Chiswick Bridge to the south ,and Hogarth roundabout to the north-24hours a day for the duration of the works, If you plan to drive, please allow more time to complete your journey Pedestrians The pavement along the A316 Great Chertsey Road will be closed in the northbound direction from 6 to 20 December 2021, and in the southbound direction from 4 to 17 January 2022. Burlington Lane Closure

Can anyone advise if LBH is planning to push ahead with closing the entrance to Burlington Lane from the A316? If so, what on earth will happen to the displaced traffic? Will Sutton Court Road bear the brunt? How can people travel to Chalkers Corner from the Hogarth Roundabout? How can such a closure of a main route benefit anyone? Might as well close the M4 or M25 take your pick. This is utter madness!
