A ferret was found wondering near the Southfield Road/Acton Lane junction earlier. It was caught and is now at Goddard's vets on Horn Lane in Acton, in case anyone is missing one.

Nilo Clothing South Parade

I took a pair of jeans which had split in the bum area and asked if he could repair them, which he said he could. I wore them once and they split again (and no, I haven't got a big bum!). I took them back and asked for a refund, which he flatly refused saying that he'd done his job of repairing them. I refuted this statement and said he hadn't done a good job and he hadn't repaired them, as he said he would. I asked if he could try again and he said he could but he would charge me again. Needless to say, I didn't accept his generous offer. I asked if he could at least refund me half of what I had paid, but again he flatly refused. No apology, no "sorry madam". Very bad customer service, £15 down the drain. I feel cheated, and very miffed. Would you be?

New Update: Collection for Ukraine Sunday 6th March 25 Fairlawn Ave

Hi all, just another update on the efforts of Margie and Marek. They have helped to coordinate 1300 military helmets from Glasgow to London and they will soon be delivered to the Ukrainian military. Given that the Ukrainian military never planed for such a large proportion of the population to be actively fighting they are in need of many more, and the problem is that they are expensive. They are also now working with the Association of Ukrainian Doctors as well as one of UNESCO's accredited NGOs and have had specific requests for certain items. Margie will be taking donations of the following items on Sunday 6th March between 8am and 8pm:Medical SuppliesBatteriesFirst Aid KitsTourniquetsGauzeBandagesSleeping BagsTentsFlashlightsLong Range Walkie TalkiesPhone Bank ChargersWe have learnt a lot from last weekend, so please could anyone who has any donations please ensure that they are clearly labelled, no mixed bags/boxes please as the sorting slowed us down a little. Also, please no toiletries, toys or clothes this time as we need to give priority to the requested items. They are still fundraising for the situation. All raised funds are going towards petrol, Euro Tunnel tickets etc., and importantly to finance the team on the ground's ability to react to the changing needs of people. For instance when Marek and the other drivers reached the border, they were asked to help find ways to keep the many many people queuing to get into Poland warm. They immediately went out and bout 27 fire pits, fuel etc. Being able to react in real time is extremely helpful to those coordinating on the border. I watch this occasionally.The current situation is being reported as that Donbass and the other ,in their words, 'self-proclaimed' independent areas of eastern Ukraine are in imminent danger of attack from Ukraine.23 journalists in Russia have been assainated. The only credible opposition leader is in prison.All demonstrations are attacked by baton wielding police.The Russian Olympics team is corrupt re doping.Is it right that this station is on air in this country?I believe in free speech but I'm having second thoughts because of the blatant propaganda that this station broadcasts.

Ukraine Food Drive

Past and present members of our team have family in Ukraine. Over the years, we have worked with a courier to send things back to their families. The Ukrainian Social Club in Notting Hill is sending trucks daily with provisions. Normally it would take two days to reach western Ukraine.From this day forward, we will be collecting food which we will drop off to the club on Fridays or as needed. Simply drop off anything to us and we will deliver to the club. We are at 83 Chiswick High Road at the intersection of Chiswick Lane.Please bear in mind grocery stores in Ukraine are unable to restock.We ask you all to join with us to lend our support to all Ukrainians at a time when they need us most.

Update from Ukrainian collection on Fairlawn Ave

Hi all, a quick update from the the amazing efforts made by residents of Fairlawn Ave and surroundings on Sunday. The team led by the wonderful Mareck, and coordinated by the equally wonderful Margie, reached the Polish/Ukrainian boarder today with eight vans of generous donations from West Londoners, including a very generous donation from Ocado Zoom. All the baby food, formula, nappies, toiletries, blankets, thermals and medication including antibiotics, insulin etc. are already being made use of. Over in Poland the effort is being coordinated by Mareck's sister who is thankfully a doctor and knows how best to utilise all the medication. Having people on the ground in Poland means that they can help in realtime with the changing needs of the situation. Tonight, and likely for the next few days, what they need most now are ways of stying warm as the queues are very long and it's freezing. Mareck and his sister have quickly organised for 27 fire pits and two tons of high heat, slow burn fuel for people to try and keep warm. These are very real and urgent requests from people who are actually there. Thanks to their effort people can stay a little warmer tonight. There are of course many more to help. UNFORTUNATLEY PayPal has currently suspended the PayPal account due to the flurry of donations. They now have all the necessary documentation to show this is genuine, so it will be up and running again in the next 24 hours. If this is something you would like to contribute to, please keep trying. I don't have any affiliation to the organisers, other than being in complete awe of them and wanting to help. Sad staveley road morning "protest"

So..  I walked along Staveley road this morning to work - loads of kids walking to the community school (not breathing car fumes), handfuls cycling, 4 parents with cargo-style bikes and kids, all enjoying the splendour of an almost car and pollution free journey along Staveley road. And then there were 14 bitter angry old residents (inc 2 not-local councillors) standing pitifully at the barrier wanting to allow cars once again to start racing along and polluting the streets everyone else was enjoying. Streets for everyone and not just car users. So depressingly sad. The road is a joy now. Who in the right mind would want to re-allow continuous car traffic? Get a grip people.

Scam or not

Just had 2 text messages telling me that I have been in contact with someone isolating from COVID and to order a specific Omicron test kit.  I took this at face value until asked to pay £1 for delivery.I then began checking and the messages come from a telephone number +44 7840 574028.NHS blue logo used and warnings that this is an Omicron specific test.   Also if I decline, I will be forced to isolate.As I have not been anywhere for 10 days except to walk the dog and never take my phone with me, I am sceptical.

£50m funding ringfenced for cycling

Grant Shapps' letter to Sadiq Khan says that £50m should be spent on active travel schemes by June in the latest funding deal for TfL. SO while TfL will need to raise revenues from other sources such as boundary charges / payment per journey for cars, cycle and safer streets schemes are protected and invested in by the government. The Boroughs that have shown leadership in the past two years like Hounslow can expect more funds for their schemes while those that have not like RBKC will likely not receive LIP funding.
