Tony Colman MP met with Lord McIntosh (pictured below), Minister for Media and Heritage at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport on 20 May to protest at the continuing closure of Robin Hood Gate.
Tony Colman said,
"As far as I am concerned there is no need for more traffic surveys because the case has already been made to reopen the Robin Hood Gate to take the pressure off people living on and around Roehampton Lane. This includes the parents and children of Sacred Heart School and Roehampton Church School suffering added levels of pollution."
Lord McIntosh confirmed to Tony Colman that the possibility of reopening the gates remains and he wants to hear from local residents on their views.
Tony Colman added,
"I
again opposed the new Golf Course centre proposed to be built near
the Robin Hood Gate with potential noise and disturbance to the
Alton Estate and great danger in accessing the A3 through the currently
closed Chohole Gate. I see no reason why the Golf Centre should
not remain by Roehampton Gate where it has been since the 1930s."
