ISSUE: Richmond Park

The Royal Parks Agency respond to the issue

Simon Richards - Parks Superintendent reponded with the following letter

I would merely wish to point out that we put forward a wide range of options only a few of which envisaged possible closures of roads within the Park.

The Royal Parks Agency has a duty to protect Richmond Park. We are not a highway authority and are not responsible for the congestion on surrounding road networks which will continue to increase, according to all predictions, irrespective of whether any restrictions are put in place within the Park.

The Agency has welcomed a debate with local communities and recognises that their needs have to be considered alongside the need to protect the Park.
