Reliable carpenter in Chiswick

Hi, I need two cupboard doors fitting and have had no luck in finding a decent carpenter locally in the chiswick area. It is perhaps 2 hours work max, any recommendations at all? Would need to be a proper carpenter as some woodwork to do. Thanks

Lost Yorkshire Terrier

Our dog Lola, a Yorkshire Terrier, ran from home around 10.30pm on Wednesday 28th July. Last seen near Hogarth School in Duke Road, Chiswick. Please look around the area as she might be hiding and is a very precious dog to the kids. She is chipped.

Probate lawyer & valuation recommendations

The probate lawyer we were hoping to use can no longer deal with our case.  Can anyone recommend a local firm that doesn't cost and arm and a leg?Also, can anyone recommend a local Estate Agent that provides realistic probate valuations?Many thanks

Ealing Residents Parking Permits - Question

Hi,Does anyone happen to know what happens to an Ealing residents parking permit if a person moves out of the CPZ zone or out of the burough?I know the person is supposed to cancel the permit but what happens if they don’t do that straight away?I know the wardens now scan registration numbers which check a database of valid parking permits.  However, I wonder how closely linked that system is to the councils database for other council services i.e. registrations for council tax etc...If anyone happens to know it would be greatly appreciated.Thanks!Joe

Turnham Green Station Closed

Turnham Green station closed. Looks like there has been a serious accident. Emergency service blocking one side of the road, towards the high street. E3 on diversion via 94 bus route.

Ideas to combat serious noise problem - private apt

Just wondering if anyone has any good ideas to deal with a noise issue from one apartment in small private block of apartments in Chiswick.On a regular basis these people have people round and have noisy, frightening and what seems like drug fuelled parties. They are not savoury people and can party for over 24 hours. They dont seem to worry if police call (just start up again after they go) but have terrorised neighbouring apartments by banging on neighbouring doors after police leave - threatening residents for calling police. People are now too afraid to complain. The resident is family of the owner of the apartment so no recourse to landlord or that they will move out any time soon. Its now at stage some residents including elderly people are suffering mentally. Council not a lot of help except asking us to log events but do very little. Seems like one resident can terrorise a whole block and know that nothing can really be done

Blood Pressure Monitor

My doctor has been emailing and texting with increasing urgency to say I need my blood pressure checking immediately.  I asked them why and whether they knew something I didn't :) but it just seems that if you haven't had it checked for over five years they want you to have it done.They said rather than go into the surgery I could buy a blood pressure monitor and do it at home.   I had a look online and there is such an enormous range of makes, prices and features I felt quite daunted.  I want something accurate and easy to use, not too many bells and whistles although I did read that some give three readings at a time to improve accuracy so that sounds like a useful feature.  I wonder if anyone has been through the sane thing, what make and version they chose in the end and whether they think it is accurate and are happy with it?

We'd like to remodel the back of our very small Victorian house to create a downstairs loo and add a bit more space to the kitchen.I'm not really sure where to begin tbh, so thought I'd start by asking around to see if anyone else has had an extension recently, and if so, whether they'd would recommend their architect/builder.  Thanks to anyone happy to share their recommendations.

lease see the link to the petition against the Duke of Northumberland's estate building over the Park Road allotments. We believe the second planning application will be going to Hounslow's planning committee in the near future, already over a 1000 individual letters of objection have been sent to Hounslow, we would like this petition to reach 3000. The estate had their first application refused by Hounslow's planning cttee. and then subsequently thrown out by the planning inspector at a public inquiry in 2018. The inspector's ruling was that the whole area should remain as local open space, but the Northumberland estate has not given up the plan to build 80+ dwellings in the middle of the Riverside Conservation Area. Apart from the allotment plots this area is rich in biodiversity where wildlife, insects and flora flourish and the site is adjacent to the ancient churchyard of All Saints which provides a pathway to an additional wildlife haven.https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/save-the-isleworth-park-road-allotments-from-redevelopment

Looking for feedback on real estate project - Under Garden apartments built by Robots

Hello everyone,I am currently on an internship for a company that is looking to help solve a number of problems related to housing in London, many of which have been exacerbated by the COVID pandemic:(1) The availability and affordability of property for those looking to relocate closer to loved ones - made all the more pressing where they may have lost a partner as a result of the pandemic.(2) New ways in which people can release value to their homes without having to sell up.(3) Solutions which might work for those living in one of the many conservation areas in Dulwich and other parts of London.(4) Something that will appreciate in value - as opposed to that of garden buildings that will depreciate over timeThe company has come up with a way (excavation robots and a sinking concrete shell) to create living/working space underground allowing the vast majority of the garden to remain in use. They are starting off by building a self-contained under garden apartment with a sunken courtyard garden, providing natural light to the whole apartment. The apartment should work as a home for elderly parents or grown up kids that would be closer to loved ones and significantly less expensive than trying to buy a property off the open market.What do you think of this idea?What problems do you see or concerns do you have?Is it something that you or someone you know might be interested in?Thank you in advance.
