How to set a bridge on a cello

Does anyone know how to set a bridge on a cello? Youtube videos make it look simple but it is harder than they make it look!

Have you tried the violin shop on Acton Lane? Il sure he’ll be able to help.

I believe Matthew Coltman moved from Acton Lane to Market Harborough.http://www.matthewcoltman.com/And yes it's a long time since I did it, but as I recall, it is fiddly to set up a bridge, not to mention getting the sound post in the right place.

Now Coltman and Ealing Strings have gone, it's more difficult to get things fixed locally. Having seen an expert setting a bridge and adjusting a sound post, I wouldn't touch it!

..though it seems Ealing Strings still exist but don't have their shop any longer. See their website.

Thanks all for your replies, I thought Acton violin shop had closed. Thank you for the link to matthewcoltman, it may be the last resort as it's a bit of a way to travel!

https://www.oldviolinworkshop.co.uk/I found this when I was looking for a cello repair shop recently. It's in Hampton.

I have sent you a pm with details of someone who can help you

Can't you trial 'n error creatively yourself putting and-or prizing under the cello wires bits of wood or plastic or other raising under the wires a taught-producing contrivance that'll make your cello sing?

I had no idea he’d moved. He did a great job on a new bridge, tailpiece, restringing and sourcing a really good bow a few years ago. Such a shame he’s left.Unfortunately, even with all that work he was unable to put in the switch that makes you Paganini.
