Screwfix is preparing to open a new store on Chiswick High Road, with a poster bearing the slogan ‘Well Chis-elled’ displayed in the window of the former Chiswick Beautique premises at 480 Chiswick High Road.

The retailer, which specialises in tools, building materials, plumbing, electrical supplies and other products for tradespeople and DIY customers, has not yet confirmed an opening date.

The relatively small premises, which occupy 328 sq ft, were previously advertised to let by commercial property agent Whitman & Co, with a rent of £30,000 a year. Estimated business rates were listed at £7,449 annually.

The store would be in the company's Screwfix City format which aims to supply a limited range of tools and equipment to tradespeople operated in urban areas. This type of store has been the focus of its recent expansion.

The proposed opening would bring another national retailer to the area, where the former beauty salon was one of a number of nail and beauty businesses operating in the area.

It would also add to the growing presence of home improvement and interior design businesses in that part of the High Road. Kitchen and bathroom suppliers including Neptune, Homary and Wren have opened in recent years, reflecting demand for products aimed at homeowners undertaking renovation and refurbishment projects.

Screwfix is part of Kingfisher plc, which also owns B&Q, and operates a nationwide network of stores alongside its online business. It supplies professional tradespeople as well as DIY customers, with services including Click & Collect and rapid delivery.

ChiswickW4.com has contacted Screwfix for more details about the store including confirmation of an opening date.
