Police Hunt Man Detained under Mental Health Act


Public advised not to approach Utmanzi, but call 999

Police are urgently appealing for information after a man, convicted of manslaughter and detained under the mental health act, absconded from a medical facility in Edmonton on Monday March 8.

Fida Mohammed Utmanzi, 20, who has previous connections to Fulham and Putney, absconded from North London Clinic,
Church Street, Edmonton at 7.23 on Monday evening.

Officers were notified by the hospital shortly after and enquiries to trace the man continue.

Utmanzi was born in Afghanistan and was last seen wearing black adidas pants with white stripes on the sides, a navy blue hooded top and grey trainers.

Police say he is 6ft 1 inch tall, thin with short black hair. He is also known to have cigarette burns on his arms.

Utmanzi was detained under the mental health act indefinitely after being convicted of the manslaughter of Rasool Khan at the Old Bailey on January 8, 2010. Rasool was stabbed to death at an address on West Green Road, N15 on March 3, 2009.

Members of the public are advised not to approach Utmanzi, but to call police immediately on 999.
