The London Pride Walk in aid of Cancer research
Over the last 14 years the London Pride Walk and Fun Run has raised over £1million towards Cancer Research UK's life-saving work.
The 15th sponsored walk and run will take place again on July 4th 2010, starting and finishing at the Griffin Brewery, taking in the beautiful Thames path over Chiswick and Hammersmith bridges.
This 10km (6miles) walk or run is a fantastic way for local families / teams/ individuals to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Last year 500 participants raised £33,500. Many took part in the memory of a friend or family member.
The harsh fact is that one in three people will get cancer.
All the money raised from the event supports vital cancer research work at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust at Hammersmith Hospital where scientists' and doctors' research work includes investigating links between hormones and breast cancer, running clinical trials, testing new drugs for lung, prostate and breast cancer.
All funds raised by people taking part in events such as this, ensure that more and more people survive cancer.
