League tables for GCSE's finds three local state schools amongst the top performers
The table below shows the A Level results for state and independent schools in the local area for examinations taken in 2009. In the same week three Wandsworth secondary state schools are among the country's top performers in this year's national league tables for GCSE's.
From a total of 3,196 state secondary schools, Southfields Community College and Chestnut Grove School recorded the fifth and ninth highest scores respectively in the Contextual Value Added (CVA) league table.
CVA scores assess how well a school's pupils have progressed between the ages of 11 and 16. The measure takes into account the student's starting point and factors such as deprivation and special needs.
In addition, Ernest Bevin College was named the fifth most improved school in the country with GCSE results rising 35 per cent over the last four years. The proportion of students achieving five or more A* - C GCSE's including English and maths has soared to 61 per cent
The data is supplied by the Department for Children, Schools and Families.
If your school is not included in the table, all results for both A level and GCSE Examinations can be found at http://www.dcsf.gov.uk/performance tables
