Over a quarter of a million people Iive and work in Wandsworth. Everyday some of us will become ill or injured and need urgent health care. There are several places in the borough, where you can get medical advice and treatment, without an appointment. To cut your waiting time, make sure you go to the right one. Don’t forget: many GPs in Wandsworth can see you quickly and your GP has your medical history to hand.
Provides advice and over-the-counter medicines for conditions including: headaches; coughs, colds and hay fever; indigestion; warts and verrucas; cuts and grazes; sunburn and sore skin. For your nearest out-of-hours chemist, call NHS Direct on 0845 4647.

Drop in with conditions like: minor head injuries, cuts, grazes and infected wounds; sprains; minor broken bones; bites and stings; eye, throat and ear infections; and emergency contraception.

Offers prompt treatment for all of the above. For example: you could come in with an eye infection, see a nurse, get your prescription, pay for it at reception, and leave within half an hour.

Accident and Emergency (A&E) Departments are designed to treat critical or life threatening situations such as: loss of consciousness; heavy bleeding; major broken bones; chest pains lasting 15 minutes or more; difficulty breathing; overdose or poisoning. In these situations, dial 999 and ask for an ambulance.
If the situation is less serious, your wait could be shorter at the Minor Injuries Centre or Walk-in Centre. If you’re not sure where to go, call the Centres or NHS Direct for advice.
