Fatal road accident at junction of Buckhold Road & Wandsworth High Street

Police appeal for witnesses

Around 10am on Thursday 7th July 2005 a fatal road traffic collision occurred in Buckhold Road at the junction with Wandsworth High Street. A vehicle was in collision with a 87 year old female pedestrian as she attempted to cross Buckhold Road, close to the junction with the High Street, apparently heading towards the Southside Shopping Centre. This was initially a 'fail to stop' collision, but after extensive enquiries two vehicles were traced to Greenford and Fulham.

Police need to trace a vital witness who left the scene prior to the arrival of the police.

We know that this witness was driving a plain white 'M A N' goods vehicle, which travelled along Buckhold Road, along Wandsworth High Street and then turn right into the start of Armoury Way. After this point police lost sight of the vehicle on CCTV.

The best picture that we have of the vehicle is as it turned into Armoury Way. Although the registration at the front of the vehicle is visible police are not able to enhance the photograph sufficiently in order to obtain the exact details. Police therefore need to locate this witness as quickly as possible. The driver of the vehicle or anybody with information about the vehicle or driver is asked to contact the Collision Investigation Unit at Hampton Traffic Garage on their Witness Line - 020 941 9011. Alternatively call Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
