More services for South West London to cater for the CC extension

TfL has introduced extra buses for our community...

This will allow for more people who live in, work in and visit the capital to use public transport when the western extension to the Congestion Charge starts on February 19.

TfL believes that the changes around the whole of the west of London will mean nearly 5,000 more people will be able to travel in and around the zone in the morning rush hour.

Changes include a new service – route 452 between Kensal Rise and Wandsworth Road Station – and extensions to other routes, as well as more frequent services across the network.

TfL has made the following local changes:

Route 452 is a new bus route now running from Wandsworth Road station to Kensal Rise

Route 14 from Putney Heath to Tottenham Court Road has been extended to Warren Street and runs more frequently throughout the week
Routes 22 (Putney Common to Piccadilly Circus) and 27 (Turnham Green to Chalk Farm) run more frequently throughout the week
Route 430 (Roehampton to West Brompton) has been extended to South Kensington Station via Old Brompton Road

These are in addition to improvements made to the bus network in the past six years, including an accessible fleet of more than 8,000 buses, professionally trained drivers, a better waiting environment at bus stops and shelters, and improved security with all buses fitted with CCTV cameras.

David Brown, managing director, Surface Transport, said: 'We aim to improve and expand the transport network, making it more reliable and encouraging more people to use public transport.

'London is the only major city in the world to have achieved a significant shift from private car use to buses and other modes of transport. We intend to build on this success through continued investment.'
