Dreams, Delusions and Disasters considers historic errors
Liz Cowley and Donough O'Brien with the cover of their new book
November 10, 2023
Two Putney authors, husband and wife team Liz Cowley and Donough O'Brien, have co-written a new book called Dreams, Delusions and Disasters.
Throughout history, and all over the world, even intelligent people have made foolish decisions based on delusions. This has affected love affairs, politics, science, warfare, show-business and even sport. It has also wrecked marriages, bankrupted millionaires, lost battles, destroyed empires, brought down leaders, ruined reputations and thwarted gangsters.
Liz and Donough go through 150 examples in their book of misfortunes covering subjects as diverse as Gerald Ratner, Guy Fawkes, Argentina and The Falklands and Donald Trump cheating at golf.
Liz also has a new book of poetry out called Muttering Doggerel: Poems from a Dog's Perspective. The book aims to be a great stocking filler for any dog lover.
Once acclaimed by The Lady Magazine as 'Britain's finest gardening poet', Liz has now turned her poetry skills to man's best friend. The book is written from a dog's point of view with plenty of grumbles about not being allowed on sofas, or upstairs on beds, and always having to wait too long for walks - among lots more happy observations.
They live in Charlwood Road and you can pick up signed copies of both books from their home in the lead up to Christmas.
