Dangerous patient escapes from local mental hospital

Police appealing for help to trace a man who has not been seen since he left a residential unit at Queen Mary's Hospital on Friday 6th April.

John Claydon, who is aged 25, left the unit at around 16.15 on Friday. He was being treated for psychosis at the hospital having been sectioned under the Mental Health Act. Officers are concerned because he has a history of violence and may present a danger to members of the public.

He is described as white male, of slim build, 5ft 11in tall, with small scars on his face. He has gold caps on his teeth in his upper jaw and some crooked teeth.

He has previously lived in Twickenham and it is thought that he may be in the Roehampton area.

Members of the public are advised not to approach him and to call officers from Battersea Missing Persons Unit on 020 8247 8489. Outside of office hours call 020 8649 1212.
