My Fine Companions
August 29, 2025
A charity fundraising concert will take place at the Half Moon Pub in Putney with all proceeds supporting Help Counselling Centre, a long-established West London organisation offering low-cost mental health support.
The event on Tuesday 16 September, begins at 8pm and features a live performance by folk band My Fine Companions. Tickets are priced at £20 and available directly from the venue.
Help Counselling Centre has been providing affordable counselling services for over 50 years, supporting individuals facing anxiety, depression, stress, bereavement and other mental health challenges. The charity operates both online and in-person, including from consulting rooms in Putney, and is staffed by trainee counsellors in the final stages of accredited psychotherapy training. Its Bursary Fund enables those unable to afford even subsidised fees to access long-term support, a model that contrasts with the short-term provision typically available through statutory services.
The fundraising gig will help sustain this bursary programme and expand access to therapy for vulnerable individuals across the boroughs of Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea, Westminster and Wandsworth.
Performing on the night are My Fine Companions, a five-piece band formed in London in 2016 and known for their warm, communal style of Americana and country folk. Their music has been described by reviewers as “a fantastic communal experience” and “played for fun, usually accompanied by beer”.
The group has played at venues including the Troubadour, Water Rats, and the Bedford in Balham, and has twice appeared at the Black Deer Festival, the UK’s largest Americana music gathering. They have released four albums produced by Luke Oldfield at Tilehouse Studios, a facility originally built by his father, musician Mike Oldfield.
