A Year 6 pupil at a Putney school is literally going the extra mile for charity by taking on multiple 5km races over the course of 2025.
Noah Lyons, who attends St Mary’s CofE Primary, wants to raise awareness and funds for ADHD UK. He will be taking part in a number of events including the Whitstable & Herne Bay Spring 5K in March, the Battersea Park 5K in June, and has already braved some sub-zero Parkruns this year.
ADHD UK provides resources and advocacy for individuals and families affected by ADHD. His fundraising page can be found here and, at the time of writing he was over a third of the way to his target of £350.
ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) impacts focus, impulse control, and energy levels, often creating challenges in learning and daily life. ADHD UK plays a role in supporting the ADHD community, offering helplines, educational resources, and advocating for systemic change. These services are important for families navigating the often-difficult journey of managing ADHD, which is frequently misunderstood and under-resourced.
A current Call for Evidence by the Health and Social Care Committee is exploring how to enhance services across education, healthcare, and employment. Long delays in diagnosis, limited treatment options, and insufficient awareness in schools and workplaces often leave families struggling. Recent reports highlight increasing ADHD diagnosis rates and the urgent demand for teacher training and better accommodations.
“Noah’s energy and drive are a reflection of the ADHD community’s strength,” said a spokesperson for ADHD UK. “His efforts will help us continue providing essential resources and advocating for systemic change.”
