'Dangerous Individual' from Rosaville Road Jailed for Aggravated Burglary

Elderly couple traumatised after being attacked in their home by Shane Douglas

A man from Rosaville Road in Fulham described by police as a 'dangerous individual' has been jailed for ten years after pleading guilty to aggravated burglary on an elderly couple.

Shane Douglas, 38, was sentenced on Friday March 11, at Isleworth Crown Court for the crime, which occurred in October last year in Fulham.

He pleaded guilty at the same court on January 18.

Douglas forced his way in to a house where a married couple, a man aged 71 and his wife 63, were at home.

Once inside, Douglas demanded money and jewellery from the woman. When her husband confronted him, Douglas attempted to use a stun gun on him.

When this failed, he punched and kicked the man before throwing him to the floor and stealing a Gold Rolex wristwatch from his wrist. The watch, which had sentimental value for the victim has never been found.

London Ambulance Service was called to the scene and the victim was treated for injuries. He is now recovering at home.

Douglas was linked to the incident through fingerprints found at the scene. He was arrested on October 5 and subsquently charged.

DC Ben Kirkham from Hammersmith CID said: "Shane Douglas is a dangerous individual who did not hesitate to use violence on the elderly victims of this offence.

" I hope the sentence passed down today serves as some comfort to the victims of this serious crime who were left traumatised by the incident and will now be able to start moving on with their lives."
