The state of Turnham Green Station

While the platforms are reasonably well-kept, the rest of the station needs a thorough clean-up. The stairs are filthy and need jet-washing, and the ticket hall is in desperate need of a paint job. It must be thoroughly depressing for the staff to work in those conditions.

planning objections online- getting round the software bug

If you have ever tried to submit an objection online via Hounslow Planning, you may well have been unable to do so confronted with the words in red saying “Some of the characters you have entered aren’t valid for this field”.Has anybody found a way to deal with this issue which has been a problem for many months. Have tried different browsers etc.  obviously it’s been reported but not fixed.

Dangerous motorcyclist near killed a cat

Seen the most dangerous motorcyclist a couple of times early evening - he nearly ran over a cat the other day! Does wheelies down Gordon Road on a blue bike. Must be doing 50mph. Cannot he be stopped?

Post Office Services

With the closure of the Heathfield Terrace post office, I'm not sure how to send some documents via the Royal Mail Guaranteed Delivery Services.  Can Mailboxes arrange this, does anyone know  or are there any other places in Chiswick, Acton or Hammersmith that could arrange for this, please?

Veterans Association collecting money in Chiswick - questions.

I have concerns about the people calling themselves the Veterans Association raising money on Chiswick High Road and Turnham Green station.There is very little information about this charity.  We know that the largest charities for ex servicemen are The Royal British Legion, Help for Heroes, Army Benevolent Fund, and there is also Veterans Aid and Veterans Gateway.  The Veterans Association has only been in existence as a registered charity for the last couple of years.   There is a previous charity with the same name that was removed, and it also got funds from another charity, Veterans Relief and Support which has also been removed. There are some great charities out there which work hard to help those in need- and I would encourage anybody wishing to donate to first research any charity in detail before donating money.

Forever Unoccupied post-redevelopment premises at corner of goldhawk road and British Grove

Is there finally a sign of life and a tenant has been found for the unoccupied ground floor post-redevelopment premises at the corner Goldhawk road and British Grove as the boarding has come down. It has amazed me that the landlord was so inactive in finding one for all these years since the site was redeveloped from a car show room to apartments for at least ten yearsIn future, instead of having an empty premises which has been an eye sore for  years, why  doesn't the planning department put in future a condition on planning permission that that if a tenant isn't found  within a set period of time, then the space has to be offered as a community space at a fare price for set period until a permanent tenant is found.

Why the Further Education System is Failing the Fashion & Textile Industry

https://ukft.org/fe-what-needs-to-change/Can't thread a needle?  Can't sew a button on or turn on an electric sewing machine?Whatever happened?  My parents generation could all do this - men and women.  In the army you had to be able to do this but you shouldn't need to join to learn!When I was young I was taught some these skills by parents and grandparents as well as at school.  What happened?I had a boss who threw away his shirts if they lost a button rather than sewing one on or paying or even just finding someone to do this.   What an unbelievable waste of resources!So now we have nametapes to be sewn on or names embroidered on games kit as new uniforms are prepared for a new year and parents who can't do this.  We also have youngsters going off to university who not only don't know how to do this but also still don't know how to look after their clothing ie doing zips up before putting washable clothes in a washing machine so that an open zip doesn't damage any other clothing especially knits...There used to be valuable advice in WRAP's Love Your Clothes Campaign...
