Please look at for a dumped RED Purse

A lady had her purse stolen from her rucksack on King street.  She has asked if we could please look out for it being thrown in a street somewhere.  Only description I have is that it's RED.  It contained 'practically her whole life" as she put it. Thank you

Regenerating high road retail

Does the report consider traffic flows/access from different parts of Chiswick too? I live  south of the A4 and in past 5 years found it easier/quicker for a big shop to drive to Sheen Waitrose or Sainsbury superstore  (With carparks) than cross two main roads both involving queues to get to the other  side of the High Road.  So I no longer get to browse the High Road shops anymore.  Public transport takes a minimum of 30 minutes (walk and bus) each way to High Road so not a “pop out and browse“ option .

this is real!!

just had a call from a friend who has just been made redundant from his bank this morning and his wife was also let go last week from her job, brutal. For those of you who think covid is a joke, this is a very worrying time for many young families. with no prospect of a job for either in the near term due to the looming uncertainties in the financial services industry, i fear for many like my friend. As he just said, after the taxman takes 50% of his severance pay he will have enough to last for 4 months and at this rate remaining to live in London is not an option. What a shame, heartbreaking.

Looks like this charity is up and running again.  Before the lockdown they would collect small items of unwanted furniture needing some TLC for mending upcycling and selling.  Take s look at their website.  They were also offering workshops showing you how to refurbish your furniture.There used to be something similar in Ealing.  Are there any more locally?It is a useful alternative to the British Heart Foundation who were obviously overwhelmed with small donations before lockdown and had consequently become more fussy.  Charities do tend to have a space/storage issue and now have the issues of Covid19 to deal with.There are other places for unwanted furniture listed on the West London Waste Authority website and Council websites.

The signs are out there

So the assumption is that every driver sees, reads and understands every sign they pass and looks for it every time they pass. There are two signs most people will have driven past, but have you seen and understood them?I’d be interested if anyone knows anything about them, or if there are people brave enough to admit they haven’t seen or understood them. (Don’t worry it is highly unlikely you have committed an offence)The first one is the 30mph speed limit on the M4 elevated section, how long has it been there?The second is at Hogarth Roundabout, the signage is fairly unique. I’ve spent years looking for it repeated elsewhere, but have only ever seen it twice elsewhere. Do you know what the sign is, what makes it fairly unique and most importantly have you ever seen another one?

South Chiswick Traffic Calming Measures - Bring them on!

I find the postings by Councillor Sam Hearn on the forum rather self serving and not amusing. Those of us who live on Staveley Road, one of the worst roads affected by Rat Runners - want these traffic restrictions AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.There is a petition started by someone living on Park Road in Grove Park ( is it a coincidence that Clr. Sam Hearn has built a rather large property on Park Road, where he lives?) which is causing all sorts of mischief. And people are signing, I believe , without really understanding the implications.Its a TRIAL and people who are currently objecting will have plenty of time to give their feedback. Before this becomes permanent.I can't see why anyone would object to stop the 000's of rat runners abusing the green leafy roads of Grove Park just to avoid the Hogarth Roundabout.

What to do with a mauled blackbird

This afternoon our cat caught a blackbird.  Its shrieks were pitiful, and I shot out and rescued it from her.  I think it had a bite on its lower back, but didn't investigate for fear of distressing it further.  It stayed stock still for ages before hopping behind a flower pot, and as it was growing dark, I eventually I picked it up and put it in a large cardboard box with a bit of water and some crumbled fat ball.  Maybe I should have let nature take its course, as I have no idea what to do now if its still alive in the morning.  Any ideas please?

first round of golf since lock down

unlike some on here, I have taken lock down seriously as I care about my friends and family as this pandemic is real which has effected us, but yesterday was my first socially distanced round with a few changes i was not aware, no touching the flag, no bunker rakes to name a few. i cannot tell you how good it felt to meet up with the 3 boys and to enjoy the outdoor, some competition, it really cleared the head but the downside was everyone's concerns about the next 5 years. one of the boys brought a golf ball for each one with Boris's face on it and there was something quite satisfying to just smack it way out of bounds on the first, infact all four never made it past the first ladies tee box.

Hancock calls for urgent review into coronavirus death data in England

Oh dear!https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-53443724I thought there was something fishy going on.  If you look at the Worldometer stats:https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/uk/ which I believe is sourced from PHE there is a significant difference with the figures from NHS England:https://www.england.nhs.uk/statistics/statistical-work-areas/covid-19-daily-deaths/The Worldometer 7 day moving average days is about 80 per day in the last week, NHS England has about 20 per day.And it has puzzled me for some time why the Worldometer "Recovered" count always says N/A.  Now we know, the BBC report says:"It follows confirmation from Public Health England that reported deaths may have included people who tested positive months before they died."(Also posted on Brentford forum)
