The popular coffee shop on New Broadway which had been due to close later this week has had a reprieve.
The turnaround has been credited to the response from the local community and support from Ealing Council.
Last week, Edwin Harrison, a director of Naked Coffee Limited, which owns the Artisan Coffee chain, said that the Ealing branch was facing a £9,000 rise in business rates next year, alongside a £25,000 rent increase demanded by the landlord. These pressures came on top of previous national insurance rises and other operating costs that have climbed sharply in recent years.
The decision had therefore been taken to serve the last customer this Sunday after 12 years at the location.
The precise nature of the support provided by the council has not been disclosed but council officers met with Magda and her team earlier this week resulting in the change of heart.
