Appeal for Witnesses to Ealing Broadway Station Accident
Independent investigator looking into 'trap and drag' incident

A witness appeal has been launched by investigators looking into an incident in which a passenger was dragged along the platform at Ealing Broadway station.
The person’s hand became trapped in the doors of a departing Elizabeth line train at 12:07am on 24 November 2024 when they were attempted to board.
The train subsequently departed from the platform with the passenger forced to run alongside it for several metres before being pulled away by a member of railway staff who was working on the platform.
The driver was alerted to what was happening by nearby passengers, and the train stopped after moving approximately 17 metres. The passenger is reported to have sustained minor injuries because of the accident.
The incident is being investigated Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) which is seeking to identify the sequence of events that led to the incident. Its investigation is independent of any investigation by the railway industry or by the industry’s regulator, the Office of Rail and Road.
It will also be looking at the the arrangements in place to manage and control the risks associated with passengers boarding and alighting from trains on the Elizabeth line and post-incident management of platform-train accidents.
The findings of its investigation will be published on its web site when it has concluded.
